Trillian for Mac: New tooltips, MSN multiple sign-in! (1.0 Build 107)

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Trillian for Mac gets a small update this week in build 107. We’ve continued to fix bugs and are introducing two new features – contact tooltips and an upgraded MSN engine supporting multiple points of presence. The MSN updates mean you can now share your connection to MSN between your iPhone and your Mac when using Trillian. The new tooltips will serve as the foundation for additional functionality moving forward, including mail and social integration. We’ve also tidied up the contact list a bit more to improve the visibility of user avatars.

Enjoy the build!

Trillian for Mac: New clean and tidy minimal view and better tabs! (1.0 Build 106)

Mac 106-01

Build 106 is now available, introducing a few important bugfixes and a handful of useful new features. High on our feature request list was the ability to customize the size of the avatars in the contact list, and we’ve made a first pass at tackling this challenge in 106. You can now choose from one of four different sizes: minimal, small, medium, and large. Minimal view is a special view that strips as many controls as possible from the contact list to provide the absolute minimal experience! We also heard from many of you that the keyboard shortcut method of closing tabs wasn’t obvious enough, so we’ve added a more standard hover icon.

Trillian for Mac: Universal binary and Facebook/XMPP integration! (1.0 Build 105)

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

As of Build 105, Trillian for Mac will now work on both Intel and PowerPC Macs, and we’ve added XMPP support to the Facebook plugin. Mac users already using Facebook Chat shouldn’t have to make any changes to see the improvements – the Facebook plugin works behind-the-scenes with the XMPP plugin to power chat. We’ve also fixed a handful of issues for this build, including a few bugs related to messages not appearing on the Yahoo! and Windows Live services.

Please note: Facebook contacts previously moved with older builds may re-appear in their default locations in the new build. This is a one-time occurrence due to the shift to XMPP; future changes to your list should stick. Enjoy the build!

Trillian for Mac: Avatar editing and more keyboard controls! (1.0 Build 104)

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Coming in as a close second to Growl integration was the ability to change and control your personal avatar! As of Build 104, you can now change your avatar using files on disk or even your integrated camera, including full support for fun image filters and zoom controls. A new preferences section has also been added, allowing you to control what hotkeys Trillian for Mac uses to send messages and insert newlines. A handful of bug fixes are present in this build as well.

Enjoy the new build!

Mac Build 103

Thanks to everyone for taking a look at our Mac alpha release! This week we spent time carefully analyzing all of the feedback we’ve received and are happy to announce Build 103. Notable changes:

  • Basic Growl Support: A handful of many common events can now be sent directly to Growl.
  • Sound Preferences: You can disable or enable different sounds individually, or mute all sounds if you so choose.
  • Debug Logs: Standard Trillian debug logs will improve our ability to diagnose bugs!
  • More: View the changelog for details.

In a future build, we’ll be adding a fully-featured events system into Trillian for Mac, similar to the Windows product. This system will include the ability to bind an arbitrary number actions to program-generated events and more!

If you’re using Build 102, you should receive an automatic update the next time you start Trillian for Mac. This will be our first “in the wild” test of the auto-update code, and we do anticipate that a few bugs will need to be ironed out. If the automatic update process fails for you, you can always grab the new build on the download page. Please be sure to file a bug report if you notice an issue with our updater. Have a great weekend!
