Build 47.

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Build 47 is now available.  This week, we continued to nail down any server issues that cropped up after last week’s significant backend launch.  We will be adding a large number of testers throughout the weekend to continue this process.  Pending the successful size-up of the testing team, we’ll begin working on bringing Trillian Astra Web back online next week with some significant enhancements.  This will take a week if all goes well, but it may take 2-3 weeks if we run into more “engineering challenges”.  :)

We worked to eliminate most of the existing contact list XML update bugs in build 47 – please test this feature and report any continued problems to Bugzilla. This is an important feature and we need to get it right; much of the code behind it is reasonably complicated and so we anticipate a few remaining bugs.

Thanks everyone, and enjoy the build!

Build 46 is now available. This build is tied to an upgraded version of our server technology, and so there will be a few gotchas for existing alpha users. A more technical write-up for existing testers is here. Enjoy.

Webware winner!

Monday, June 18th, 2007

webware_winner.pngThanks to everyone who voted for Trillian in the recent Webware 100 poll – Trillian ended up ranking as one of the winning 100 products when the dust settled. Your vote of confidence means alot to us, and please rest assured that we are still working furiously on Astra. We are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel with some of these server changes we’ve been working on, and as soon as they’re launched we’re going to open the testing team exponentially. Thank again for your support and continued patience; I imagine at the end of this development cycle we’ll have a few great battle stories to share. Back to work!

Trillian 3.1.6.0

Monday, June 18th, 2007

iDefense Labs has notified us of a security vulnerability in Trillian 3.x, and we worked last week to resolve it and issue a patch. Details will shortly be live at the following url:

http://labs.idefense.com/intelligence/vulnerabilities/display.php?id=545

You’ll find the latest full version available here, and existing customers should be receiving an auto-update notification upon their next restart of Trillian. We recommend all users upgrade to the latest version.

Thanks!

Build 45.

Friday, June 8th, 2007

We knew you’d murder us if we didn’t get a build out this week, so Build 45 is now available. Kevin is continuing to pick away at some of the more annoying UI bugs as he works on features, and I’ve been giving a particular focus to Yahoo! as I work on server code and other things. Zeroing in on one plugin at a time has been a refreshing way to approach what is ultimately a large amount of work, and I hope it’s starting to show. Our Yahoo! engine should be pretty stable at this point, and we’ve worked hard to fully flesh out all of the features we plan on implementing for 4.x. No IMVironments, though – sorry. Testers, please continue to pick away at the remaining minor bugs and annoyances within the Yahoo! engine so we can get them all resolved.

We are still working on Top Sekr1t Feature #31337 – it’s coming along quite well and we’re very excited to get it to you as soon as possible. Since our weekly blog updates and open alpha testing cycle have taken much of the thrill of unveiling new features away from us, we need to continue getting our kicks by not fully announcing what feature we’re working on. Sorry. :)

Enjoy the build and the weekend.
