Problems still not fixed for me. Facebook Chat password isn’t saved so I cannot log in on startup. Status messages does not show last status message; the status shows up as “away” to your buddies but on the buddy list under your screen name it says your last status message.

@TheGovernor11 The particular facebook chat bugs fixed were related to a new server side setting and properly detecting a bad password. When you enter in your password and click elsewhere in the connection screen, then go back to that account, does it show the password?

can you add a script in Trillian for windows 7 that whenever trillian is already open and in the tray, when you click the shortcut of trillian in the taskbar it will open the existing trillian and not tell me that “you may only log into this account once per machine. Please choose a different account or logoff in your other copy of trillian”

A small glitch in every build is that if you’ve added yourself in msn, your contact doesn’t show it’s avatar and display message in contact list.

@iamfromreallifw … that is not possible, because the only way to get the avatar is to open a message window to yourself which you can not do. MSN does not support adding yourself to your own contact list (it is not necessary anyways as you can’t message yourself) …and so while it will technically work in Trillian, it doesn’t have any functionality.
@nowadventuring, press F2 if it is just one contact window, or go into the preferences to the message windows page (maybe its the chat page) and turn them back on.

@DiamondNRG – sorry, but it is very much possible, as I’ve add it myself in Windows Live messenger, I use it to see how my contact appears to others. Pidgin and Miranda show avatar and Status message correctly, but trillian shows an empty contact with only my name visible.

I meant it is not possible to have yourself as a contact on the MSN server… so Trillian doesn’t allow anything to go through (including the avatar info). Sure they could could probably write special code to allow it to go through but there is not a purpose for this. You can see your user avatar right on Astra already. Same with your status message. This same problem exists for GoogleTalk and I remember it being said that they would not add special code just to allow people to add their own account to their contact list, so I would think the same would be true with their opinion of it on MSN.

iamfromreallifw, I used to have myself in the msn/wlm contact list to see my avatar, message, nickname and status. It is a good trick I like to confirm these things, but apparently it is not possible anymore when using the new msn protocol that allow you to log in several locations at the same time. Maybe the previous version of Trillian with the old msn protocol can show your message etc.

after the new update, I can no longer change the color in the aurora theme and am currently stuck in my default blue ish configuration. Please help.

when can we expect plugins? or at least the ability to use old trillian plugins. I know some old plugins do work, but not all.

@Jim, sounds like your 30 day trial of Pro expired. That is why you can no longer change themes, nothing to do with the build upgrade, just a coincidence on the timing. http://www.trillian.im has a feature list that you can compare pro to basic and see what features you had in the trial that you don’t have now and decide if Pro is worth it to you.
@LXXIII, when the plugin authors decide to update their plugins? True some of the changes in Astra have broken compatibility with a lot of the old plugins, but it would be the 3rd party plugin developer’s job(s) to update their plugins to maintain compatibility. Unfortunately a lot of them have left the community or abandoned their projects. You are more than welcome to step up to the plate and help get the community back to where it once was by contributing to a new plugin or helping update an existing one that the author has abandoned!

I just tried to connect to facebook chat via jabber using meebo and I got the same error: wrong password. Maybe it is not a Trillian bug. Instead facebook dont allow to connect to its chat via jabber anymore.

I have a problem – when I open message window of a metacontact, there aren’t any last lines from the previous conversation. When I open normal contact, everything is ok.

@Phate, could it be because the contact you’re talking to is using a different medium than the last time you talked to them ? For example, if you have a Meta that has a contact’s MSN and AIM, and one day you talk to them on AIM, you won’t be able to see the history from that AIM convo on MSN.
The only thing I can say is that this build fixed a bug I had – well, probably more of a “Feature” than a bug. 4.2 build 18, you can no longer connect to the Astra network – says your client isn’t allowed anymore.
The one thing I would like to add to Trillian would maybe be a “Check for updates” option within one of the menus, as opposed to having to restart Trillian – I don’t do that unless my machine goes down for a reboot, which is almost never.
Otherwise, things are looking great.

@VE6AY .. that option is already there in the Help menu at the top of the contact list, it will tell you when there is an update available… when there is no update, then there won’t be anything listed about updates in the help menu. It isn’t the most intuitive but it does work.

Is it just me, or are the email options nerfed? I can’t seem to mark mail in my Hotmail account as read anymore. There’ve been a few times when the mail indicator has been stuck on ‘1′ and I haven’t been able to clear it without disconnecting from MSN and reconnecting. I used to be able to right click, and select ‘mark as read’ (it would also show more information about the messages), but now I just get the option to ‘view inbox’ or ‘hide’. Never had that problem prior to update.
Other than missing the ‘check for update’ option, no complaints or problems. Good stuff.

downloading it , anyways can the trillian community work on windows live camera and voice chats please because i like trillian but i am using windows live for cam / voice chats , so if u work on that i know alot of people will leave msn and go straight to trillian just like me

I’m having a problem with Facebook chat where it continually adds multiple versions of each contact that comes online. It doesn’t matter how many copies of a contact you’ve already put in a metacontact for a given person; more and more copies of them just continue to be dropped into the ‘Facebook Chat’ group.
I’ve never experienced this before the last couple of builds. Is this a problem on Facebook’s end? Can anyone confirm this behavior?
I’m not sure what to do now as out of the three or four copies of each Facebook contact that is now in my contact list, only one of each appears to be valid with the others unable to show the last time logged on, profile avatar, etc.
I have since tried removing the Facebook connection from Trillian and re-adding it, but the contacts were already inside my metacontacts and did not disappear when I removed the connection.
If there has already been a post in the forum as to how to work around this bug, please let me know at nathanael.lawrence on live.com.

i have the same problem as with Nathanael. 2 copies each.. i delete the copies but the next time someone signs in or if the application restarts.. the facebook contacts have copies again..
