Trillian 4.2 for Windows: Happy Towel Day!

Today on Towel Day we’re happy to announce the full release of Trillian for Windows 4.2! The new version includes hundreds of new changes, including a completely revamped Instant Lookup that can now detect Rickrolls, simultaneous sign-on support for Windows Live, immediate replies and retweets from notification windows, an even better way to view your history of pictures sent and received from the history viewer, and much more!
If you enjoy Trillian, please consider showing your support by
purchasing a Trillian Pro license or spreading the word about the product to your friends and family. To celebrate the launch of Trillian 4.2, Trillian Pro is currently on sale for $15! We’re also offering a $5 gift price for all of our existing Pro customers – now is a great time to give the gift of Trillian Pro at an incredible 80% discount, as our thanks for your previous support of Cerulean Studios! The promo code to purchase a gift license for $5 is “towelday“, and will only work if you’re an existing paying customer.
Thanks again to everyone who helped us test and improve this version of Trillian. We’re heading straight back into development and will see you soon with some progress reports on the Trillian for BlackBerry beta.
TRILLIAN 4.2 FOR WINDOWS:

May 25th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
Yay!
Now…what about 4.3? *evil grin*
May 25th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
What annoys me is that a lot of the promises made for this version were not delivered.
May 25th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
@viceview51: What features are you waiting for?
May 25th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
Is 4.2 Build 19 the final version or should it just read 4.2? I restarted Trillian thinking there was an update, but nothing happened…
May 25th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
42, I didn’t even think about it, haha. This version was supposed to be the ultimate one! But don’t get all relaxed now, Tricia.
May 25th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
It would be really nice if the web profiles worked again. They haven’t been working for over 100 days now (seriously – if I’m not mistaken its been 102 days).
Other than that – keep up the good work. But damn it, please -pretty please- fix the web profiles soon.
Ah and I also just bought two additional gift licenses. What can I say? I’m a sucker for promotions
May 25th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Get to work on the ANDROID version….let’s see a beta for that already….
May 25th, 2010 at 1:57 pm
Sweeeettttttttttttt!
May 25th, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Scott, build 19 is the current (and gold release) of 4.2 … there is no update today.
smw, I think users are bummed about not having audio/video on MSN yet… I know the overhaul had to come first though so hopefully soon. I would say the other thing is probably the fact that the new Facebook plugin did not make it… which is very sad as the other platforms have it and I don’t think the win32 client should be *behind* the other platforms. But I suppose it takes time, and time is a hard time to put into perspective. Thanks for everything so far, I love the metacontact windows
Oh yeah, and I think I will be buying quite a few of those $5 licenses.
May 25th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
4.2, 42, the answer to everything. clever! =P
May 25th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Hey awesome just installed. Android would be cool, can’t wait to see the effects! Thank you.
May 25th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
I would like to be able to adjust my MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter status from Trillian with one single action. I like the new features too, especially the quick chat.
May 25th, 2010 at 2:59 pm
Why does the installer only install the program icons for the single user installing the app under windows? We have to hack around with it post install so any user on a pc can setup their accounts on it. We have only had multiple users on windows for a decade now, this is basic windows platform stuff here.
May 25th, 2010 at 3:00 pm
finally bought my trillian astra pro license.. yesterday.
talk about bad timing..
May 25th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
eu uso o Trillian faz 2 anos e acho ele um ótimo programa ele é sem duvidas o melhor programa!!!! RECOMENDO A TODOS!!
May 25th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
trillian should incorporate BBM 2…tht’ll be sweet…
May 25th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
@Skatt, you can do that, you just have them set to follow your status and then you type in a status where it says “online”. You have to turn them on though I believe as they are not defaulted to post your status automatically.
May 25th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
Well, What a name for the occasion… “towel day”… currently it’s 40 degrees Celsius and 85% humidity sitting with the fan on and wrapped around a towel on my waist to cool off… yet… sipping on black rum+apple vodka cocktail. Nice time to remind me of the towel… faithful trillian user… go ahead and long dev team… best wishes!
May 25th, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Great news.
Congratulation and go ahead with the good work!
May 25th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
More new features, but huge bugs many years old still haven’t been fixed. I despair
May 25th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
I would like to be able to close the Quickreply popup window and have it clear the flashing message waiting indicator for the person.. I have a lot of messages that I just need to read and then if I am able to clear the alert durning that short pop-up window that would be awesome.. And of course.. If I don’t catch it during that short pop-up window, then I will look in my list to see who I have messages waiting from..
May 25th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
@Nick Gilbert … such as which bugs? Maybe they are not aware of them?
May 25th, 2010 at 4:54 pm
@douggle: That feature request is in Bugzilla. I would enjoy it as well.
May 25th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
So where’s the Android App?
May 25th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
I have 2 twitter accounts, it shows me the first one twice… bug?
Also what about picking up what I’m listening to from spotify?
May 25th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
Just want to say that you guys are doing a great job.
May 25th, 2010 at 5:32 pm
Wasn’t the point of buying pro to get free pro upgrades? That was the initial sales pitch but now I have been charged for pro again once. Now again?? Am I reading this right?
May 25th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
I also have the same problem with Twitter. I use two identities with two Twitter accounts but it shows the primary account twice. I tried to follow this thread to fix it but it doesn’t work or the instructions aren’t clear.

May 25th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
I don’t suppose yall have fixed the file transfer problem.. It takes forever to try to transfer something
May 25th, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Should simultaneous WLM logins be working between the desktop client and iPhone? I’d love it if I could sign on to my iPhone and not boot my home PC off.
May 25th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
Hey Peter, for us cheapskates, tightwods, thrifty penny-pinchers that utilize their FREE service, don’t rush em for something else new. The current program is GREAT. Ifn it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
May 25th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Kai
No, you’re reading it wrong. They’re just saying that Free users can get a Pro license for $15, while Pro users can get another additional license (to give it as a gift to someone) for only $5. You don’t need to pay anything for 4.2 upgrade.
May 25th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
They’re unfortunately not reading it wrong. I was a Pro user of the last Trillian Astra, and today the “optional upgrade to 4.2 build 19″ message popped up. So I clicked it… and it installed the FREE version of 4.2, despite me having bought a Pro license for Astra. So now I’m stuck using the free version if I don’t buy YET ANOTHER license?
Lol I’m not happy. I thought buying Pro would give free upgrades too, but I was wrong. I had this same problem when upgrading from an earlier build to Astra- the license didn’t carry over. I should have known better, but I’d forgotten about that.
May 25th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I agree with others, a android version is severely needed!
May 25th, 2010 at 7:38 pm
I would GLADLY buy and support and Android version if one were to ever appear.
May 25th, 2010 at 8:24 pm
@Katsu, there is obviously something wrong with your account, contact support. Astra licenses are for all of 4.x … there is no such funny business going on. They are trying to get NEW pro users, not double dip on the 4.0 and 4.1 era pro purchasers.
@Kai, just like Toff said, you are reading it wrong.
@Shawn, the iPhone version doesn’t support it yet, so nope.
@Kanibal – read this: http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=99717
@Nick – read this: http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=99717
May 25th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Nice. I’d like to see a 64 bit native version, please.
May 25th, 2010 at 9:18 pm
Katsu
Are you sure your account got reverted from Pro to Free after installing 4.2? I can hardly imagine how that’s possible, but if so, something must have gone wrong. You may want to contact the developers directly to settle this out.
May 25th, 2010 at 9:29 pm
Perfecto es mas funcional
May 25th, 2010 at 9:35 pm
How about Symbian version? According to wikipedia, symbian holds 50% mobile os market share. We could really use this.
May 25th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
I’m with @Nick Gilbert – I’ve been waiting since before it was even “Astra” for profile avatars to actually display/update and it’s been what, 3-4 years now and it still isn’t working (in fact, it seems worse)? I admit, Astra is nice and it’s nice to see the constant development, but it seems that they’re doing more work on just putting patches on it than actually /truly/ making a new product. Heck the configuration files still have legacy 3.x entries in them. I’ll be happy when they actually make something “new” instead of just a new look to an old program.
May 26th, 2010 at 12:07 am
42nd response. I feel honored
May 26th, 2010 at 12:08 am
Thanks for continuing to upgrade the product and adding useful new features. Much appreciated!
May 26th, 2010 at 1:20 am
I’m not able to get my msn-mesenger-account into invisible mode. Changing the status to available and then back to invisible didn’t work. Trillian restart neither =( Hope you can fix this.
Everything else works fine.
May 26th, 2010 at 1:32 am
well i don’t call the file transfer speed is…normal. it is still awful….
May 26th, 2010 at 2:32 am
Still facing problem with Facebook. Facebook chat does not relay the other user’s message to my chat window. And my Facebook contact keep duplicating the contact everytime after restart. All these does not happen in my other Facebook connection.
So I still have to rely on jabber connection for the time being.
May 26th, 2010 at 2:36 am
I am not able to sign into Trillian MSN and my Blackberry MSN at the same time. It signs me out of the other one as soon as I sign into one. Yes, I updated my blackberry MSN to latest version. Of note simultaneous sign-on works fine for AIM on the blackberry. Any ideas?
May 26th, 2010 at 2:49 am
Hello,
I use trillian at work, and it is really great, but i have limited proofile. However, since last update trillian is using way too much profile space with file “wiki.dat” in “instantlookup” folder in Trillians application data. Any idea how to revers this update, or how to stop trillian creating this file?
Thanks,
Emir

@DiamondNRG Yeah they’re aware of them. I’ve been reporting them every year since 2003 when I first noticed the problem in version 0.74. Alledgedly it’s targetted to be fixed in 4.3 but I’m not holding my breath.
It still has incredibly basic problems such as useless ICQ auth requests: “3903282723 requests authorisation” instead of “Mike Thompson requests authorisation..”. All other clients display the name, but Trillian displays the UIN, which is obviously useless as it gives you no clue who it is.
May 26th, 2010 at 4:27 am
when will support Mail.ru agent
May 26th, 2010 at 4:39 am
Hey.
Had to pop up again. Is it just me or have the colours been fixed?
Many, many thanks.

Should I have noticed that the ALT tag on the “42″ image reads “Launch-Rocket-41″ …or does that just prove I read too much xkcd
May 26th, 2010 at 5:00 am
Hello all,
Trillian has really come a long way. I used to use trillian as a pro user long ago but tended as a geek to look for something a little less fat. Those were the days of the IM client wars when trillian would crap out due to microsoft chaging its access to hotmail codes a 100 times a day. lol. anyway…
I decided to use trillian again ( as I do this with IM clients ) just to see how things had progressed. Wow, I am pretty impressed. I don’t need all the bells and whistles but some of them are pretty nice. I also noticed that the memory requirements for trillian are pretty reasonable when you match it up against something like PANDION. I really like pandion, but the recent upgrade has made the initial login screen rather large and bulky to the point where it needs to be offscreen so once logged in the program is on your desktop. It’s a decent program too, but I have found development is taking a bit too long these days.
I am thinking about sticking around for awhile, so if anyone wants to buy me a pro license gift for 5 bucks let me know. I would be glad to be part of the community again
Thanks trillian for hanging in there and making a decent product. I see your still working out some of the bugs ( file transfer has been around a long time ) but overall you have come a long way and done a great job!
Congrats trillian.cc
May 26th, 2010 at 5:37 am
Is there a version for Windows Mobile? I would REALLY like it.
May 26th, 2010 at 5:47 am
I would like the ability to autojoin XMPP conferences, its been a requested feature for over 5 years now.
May 26th, 2010 at 6:20 am
Xnobi **after** uninstalling left over 1600 entires on my pc and over 135 Registry entries ! It still crashes my Outlook boot. All because I missed unchecking the tiny install box for this piece of…software. Why do you support this insidious piece of…. software? This version still has it ansI warn everyone, even running REVO Uninstaller will not get rid of the tendrils of Xnobi!
May 26th, 2010 at 7:07 am
sounds really great! I hope the Mac version will be that good soon.
I just bought a Pro License as a gift. Thanks for this cheap offer!
May 26th, 2010 at 7:07 am
Wasn’t Audio/Video for Windows Live support to be implemented in 4.2?
I’m rather annoyed with it still not being implemented. I respect the fact that Cerulean Studios is working hard to get bugs fixed but I’m fairly certain it was promised for 4.2.
May 26th, 2010 at 7:32 am
Long time user here too, going way back. My Pro upgraded just fine this time around. I too very much want a Droid OS version of Trilliian for my new Cliq XT and I will happily volunteer to beta test it when you’re ready.
May 26th, 2010 at 7:54 am
A Palm Pre version would be nice, too!
May 26th, 2010 at 8:02 am
Raxim
Natively? Never, I suppose. Unless some user writes a Mail.ru plugin. But you can get a Jabber account and set up a Mail.ru transport using Psi or some other full Jabber client, this way it’ll work in Trillian as well.
DarkNovaGamer
It was planned for 4.2, but never actually promised. Unfortunately, it didn’t make into 4.2, but it’s still being worked on, so we all hope it’s gonna be in 4.3. They just decided to release a version with new features they’ve already implemented instead of holding the release back until they finish their work on audio/video for MSN. So cross your fingers.
May 26th, 2010 at 8:10 am
Trillian for Blackberry would be fantastic
May 26th, 2010 at 8:13 am
Downloaded Update, Installed Update, Logged in and Bluescreened in Win7. Rebooted, tried to launch and my user data was erased. Had to input my credentials again. Now I get an error whenever I start it up. I can still log in and use it fine.
May 26th, 2010 at 8:33 am
I’m so depressed…
May 26th, 2010 at 8:42 am
Hello!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the hard work, effort and continued updates. Unfortunately I can’t afford the license yet (too many darn bills! Shoo, bills shoo!) but the price is a very excellent price! 15$ is not that bad for a continually updating program.
Is there any word on it including the ability to put pictures into AIM conversations yet? I haven’t had much a chance today to check it out, but I certainly will!
Thank you very much, you’ve got all my gratitude for -quite literally- years of this wonderful program organizing and shuffling all my messengers. I wouldn’t quite know what to do without Trillian! There may be similar programs, but I rest assured knowing none are the same.

May 26th, 2010 at 9:16 am
So I have a silly question… in the old days I could double-click an inbox (hotmail) and it Trillian would open up the inbox… and then at some point in time (months ago) once upon a time I upgraded and ever since, it has required me to login to hotmail before showing my inbox.
May 26th, 2010 at 9:20 am
So, I used to use Facebook Chat, until it hardly worked, then I got the FB now supports Jabber, configure your Trillian to chat with FB over jabber, and that seems to have worked well…
I see in the 4.2 release features Facebook Chat! Are we supposed to go back to FB chat? Is FB Chat now just a different route to Jabber on FB?
Is one faster / more stable / more proper?
May 26th, 2010 at 9:38 am
*throws away his digital watch*
Thanks for Trillian!

I agree with others here , palm pre, winmo and android app is all very much needed. I have a n1 my brother and sister both have a palm pre plus.
May 26th, 2010 at 9:42 am
Trillian for iPad, please.
Shouldn’t be THAT hard since you already have a sweet iPhone app. Right? Just make it bigger!
May 26th, 2010 at 11:02 am
There was a bug and still is in this new 4.2 release.
I have 2 gmail acocunts in the My Mail setting, but only the first has the right-click menu (View inbox etc), the 2nd only when just added. But after restarting it loses the menu.
PS: when I switch them, it still is the 2nd one that doesn’t work
May 26th, 2010 at 11:29 am
@Ahmad Pakhri – There is nothing new with the Facebook plugin in 4.2 … it is the same as 4.1 so switching to it will give you the same issues you had in 4.1. Hopefully they get the new Facebook plugin ready for 4.3.
@DarkNovaGamer – It was never promised for any version. It was said that the MSN plugin needed to be completely overhauled to a new version before that could happen. And the overhaul happened. Obviously they probably would have liked to have gotten a bit further with it, but there was no actual promise.
@Steve, read what I just wrote above… Facebook plugin is no different in 4.2 than it was in 4.1.
May 26th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
It would be perfect if you add the ability to run web cam when using msn account like the one you already done when using yahoo account
May 26th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
What about Office Communicator compatibility? Will that ever happen?
May 26th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
looks great, thanks!
May 26th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
Blackberry!
Office Communicator +1!

Why my Facebook contacts are triple?
May 26th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
HAPPY TOWEL DAY!!!11
May 26th, 2010 at 4:33 pm
They keep tryin to push me to buy it but they gave the best features to the free version. I would buy it to support the programs development but I want my fb chat to be a bit more reliable. Not sure if that is their fault or fb’s but it’s still annoying when people are talking to me on fb chat and i don’t find out til I open up fb in a browser window.
May 26th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
@Nick J … unfortunately that is Facebook’s fault … I wish it was Trillian’s fault so that CS could fix it.
@AC … are you using iPhone / OSX and/or the web version? They all have different Facebook plugins right now and all use different contact sets so you will have double (or triple) sets of contacts until they all get updated to the new Facebook plugin. Annoying, I know
May 26th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
@nick & @kanibal:
were either of you able to resolve your twitter issues? i had the same problem and i was able to resolve mine. let me know if you still need help.
May 26th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
@DiamondNRG, I use PC (window) but I tried Trillion web once (no iPhone/OSX)…is this another plugin too? How do I get rid of the plugin I don’t use? Or I have to wait until Trillion update the Facebook plugin. Currently it’s triple. Thank you!
May 26th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
@DiamondNRG, this might be duplicated message, I don’t see it went….
I use web version once…but no iPhone/OSX. How do I get rid of other plugins so my contact can count correctly? Or I have to wait untill you guys update to the new Facebook plugin. Thank you!
May 26th, 2010 at 7:19 pm
AC
Could it be that you have your Facebook contacts added to a few different Facebook friend lists at the same time? When you add a contact to a few friend lists on Facebook, it actually appears multiplied in Facebook chat on the Facebook page itself, so maybe then it’d appear as multiplied in Trillian as well, in groups named after your friend lists accordingly?
May 26th, 2010 at 8:08 pm
Twitter refuses to connect for me on this update! this makes me very sad….
May 26th, 2010 at 8:29 pm
@AC … it could be what Toff said too… but if it isn’t then its just that you have 2 different sets of contacts… one for the win32 facebook plugin and one for the web facebook plugin (which is the new plugin) … so you could certainly go through and delete all the orphaned web facebook contacts, but that would be a big waste of time as those will be the ones that will be used when the new plugin hits the windows platform. I would honestly just try to ignore all the extra offline facebook contacts until the new plugin is done. Hopefully they release it with something special to help clean up the mess.
May 26th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
Impressive number of bug fixes!
May 26th, 2010 at 11:40 pm
So if I have v4.1 build 24, and I upgrade to v4.2 build 19, I have to PAY $5 to keep my pro features? If that’s the case, that’s horrible customer appreciation… If I was going from 4.1 to 5.0, then I understand, but to charge any amount of money for a minor version change is bad business. I hope I’m wrong!
May 27th, 2010 at 12:36 am
I cannot get MSN to switch to invisible as well. The option is there but when clicked, I am still seen as “online”.
May 27th, 2010 at 12:42 am
RKinNC75
No you do not have to pay $5. From my understanding, you could buy a friend, family member etc a pro license for $5 (as a gift or whatnot) because you have a pro license. Also, as far as i am aware, people that have a pro license for 4.x will have to pay a small fee for the 5.x version whenever it gets released. So yes, your right about upgrading from 4.x to 5.x.
May 27th, 2010 at 5:58 am
We use Trillian in business for customer support and its a great tool!
May 27th, 2010 at 7:57 am
When will Trillian have undependable connection to Skype network?
When I connect Trillian opens up Skype and uses its resources. Would be great to have undependant connection so I could use 1 account on my Skype, and other Skype account on my Trillian…
May 27th, 2010 at 10:11 am
its kooooooooooooooooOOOoOOOOoOOOOoool
May 27th, 2010 at 11:15 am
@Steven, that is not possible at all. Skype is a closed-network and only the Skype client itself can access it. That is why Trillian (and all other 3rd party IM clients) have to use the API and just control the Skype client. I don’t think the resources argument is viable on modern day computer hardware. But with that aside, sure it would be nice not to have it running, it just isn’t possible.
May 27th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Who’s for lunch at the Big Bang Burger Bar?
May 27th, 2010 at 12:49 pm
when I use the iphone app / it logs me out of my desktop. It does not do the same when i return to my computer.
Eventhought I have manually logged out of my iphone.
May 27th, 2010 at 1:26 pm
@Pilar, are you using a free account or a pro account? Free accounts will log you out when you log in with another device. Being logged in on Astra on 2 devices is a Pro feature.
May 27th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Happy Towel Day! I get back from vacation to find 4.2 Released, Woot! Hopefully the Octpous gets the new MSN plug in soon so Multi-Loc MSN works everywhere.
May 27th, 2010 at 5:30 pm
Hi! I entered the promo code but on the paypal site you cant see the final price before finishing the payment. It would be nice to see if it really works and only costs 5$ before you pay 10$ for it. :s
May 27th, 2010 at 5:48 pm
@Blacksheet, you see the final price at the trillian.im site before you are committed to purchasing. I think that is a flaw in the Paypal system that it doesn’t show you what the promo code you entered is saving you.
May 27th, 2010 at 7:35 pm
@Todd
@DiamondNRG
I have some of my contacts added to a few diffent Facebook friend lists but some contacts are only one list. If this is the case, why ALL my contacts are tripled equally (not some that are in few lists). And it happened after I upgraded to this version.
@DiamondNRG
So I might have two plugins (one for the win32 facebook plugin and one for the web facebook plugin), where is the third set up from? Just wondering….I will be patiently await for the clean up. I just look too populat that I have so many friends from Facebook
May 27th, 2010 at 8:10 pm
@AC … did you ever use the XMPP plugin for Facebook when they announced that was now an option? That would possibly be your 3rd set.
Either way, you can just delete ALL of them if you want, they will just get added back as they sign on (and not necessarily be tripled if you are only using win32).
May 28th, 2010 at 1:31 am
smw, DiamondNRG resumes pretty well in this comment (http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/?p=1353#comment-16343) some of the missing features. Although you seem to have fixed some of the most nagging ones, like offline messaging in MSN/WLM.

Is there anyone on this forum that as the product key for Trillian Astra Pro version 4.1 or rather Activation key……
May 28th, 2010 at 8:20 am
Do you need a paid Astra Account for the promo code to work or can you use it if you had Trillian 3 pro?
May 28th, 2010 at 9:52 am
I will buy the Pro version once you add QQ.
May 28th, 2010 at 10:27 am
@Timroy … no way buddy. Use the free version if you can’t afford Pro. None of us are going to help you steal software from people as great as Cerulean. Remember you are stealing food right out of Kevin’s kids mouths when you do that … and I think he has like 27 kids.
@Blacksheep … yes, you would need to have a 4.x Pro license. You can upgrade to it for a reduced price (I think $10).

@DiamondNRG
I don’t even know what the XMPP plugin for Facebook is and I didn’t get any annoucement about this option.
I will try to delete all of them as you suggested and let you know what will happen.

simultaneous sign in for msn is not working, I cannot be signed in on IM on xbox 360 and trillian at the same time.

I’m having problems with the twitter oauth. I think I had the same problem with Facebook, and somehow I fixed it, but I don’t remember what I did. I’m pretty sure it keeps trying to load up internet explorer, which I have disconnected. I’m not good at this stuff, I really don’t know how I fixed my facebook one….
May 29th, 2010 at 7:16 am
Ok, Thanks.
I hope some other features like Twitter support will be added to MAC soon.

I’m having an issue where Trillian is losing the connection to my MSN account after a long period of time, say 24 hours. All my contacts appear to be offline though I know they’re online, yet Trillian still says it’s connected. “Reconnect” does nothing, but doing a “Disconnect” followed by a “Connect” works fine. Anyone else have this issue?
May 30th, 2010 at 10:39 am
Please tell it it will not stop asking about my permission settings for Facebook every time I load Trillian now, and will remember them

finally

I refuse to purchase until FB chat is fixed for the windows client. While I appreciate all the development work occurring for the smartphones, I only access the web via my pc.
June 1st, 2010 at 1:14 pm
Me too. Facebook Chat is the best feature, though it is not working. Maybe because I do not allow trillian to post on my facebook?
June 1st, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Let me get this straight. The “full realease of Trillian for Windows 4.2″ is really just 4.2 Build 19?
June 1st, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Yes it seems so. I have another bug. I can not do a dcc transfer on IRC which is 11GB. It works with smaller files though. I don’t know where the limit is.
June 1st, 2010 at 9:42 pm
I have to agree with several others — 4.2 was supposed to contain a large number of bug fixes and “make the feature actually work” fixes, most of which seem to have been deferred again. And, yes, it is all in the bugzilla logs: Weaker video support than 3.1, very poor support (insufficient to conform to the standard) for Jabber/XMPP conference rooms, including a hardwired assumption that most of one’s conferences are on the same machine as the server, inability to switch topics, etc., If the intent is to keep adding new features without getting the old ones completely working and to favor “neat” social features over those that are needed to get work done, Trillian will eventually lose some of its long-term strong (and paying) supporters. I’ve stopped recommending it to others until features really solidify and the bug list goes down significantly; I’m certainly not investing in gift subscriptions in this situation, even for only $5.
June 2nd, 2010 at 6:33 am
@Flusel, yes you need to allow that, but you can turn it off within the Trillian settings. Facebook won’t let it work if you deny it permission.
@LXXIII, that is how it always works, the final gets released as a regular build first to make sure it isn’t a dud build that added 100 new bugs first… then once its cleared a few days of usage they post that it is the final.

No, I still have the same problem with two twitter accounts showing the same user. I linked the thread you mentioned but the instructions aren’t clear:
http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=99717
This part doesn’t make any sense:
“Can you try going into the connection settings for the twitter accounts and revoking trillian for the one that has it.”
How do you revoke trillian?
June 3rd, 2010 at 9:27 am
@Nick try revoking here: http://twitter.com/settings/connections
June 3rd, 2010 at 2:35 pm
I always used Trillian as my multi IM client because I love it.
I wanna 4 the 4.3 version some more features to use it more:
- google buzz
- orkut
- imap client
- more skins that use all astra features
…
June 4th, 2010 at 10:30 am
@kokbira, imap is already available in Trillian 4.2. And more skins would be the communities job. Right now I believe the only 3rd party one that is close to being updated is Avion Pro. So please suggest the idea of making skins to all you know that like to do graphic work.
June 7th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Sadly this version stills ask me to log into Facebook every time I load it and, after adding a number of Twitter accounts, on every startup it now also prompts me with four Twitter login boxes, without indication as to which Twitter login window corresponds to which Twitter account.

” Far out in the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy ….. ”
fab new Trillain…Happily chatting on facebook without all the needless use of that incredibly slow and annoying website….. Well done Hoopy Froobs
June 8th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I have a problem with Facebook chat… It doesn’t connect at all. I have around 4,000 friends there. Can that be the reason?
June 11th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
I have to fill out the facebook password after every reboot of trillian because it does not remember it.
June 29th, 2010 at 9:18 am
Upgraded from Trillian 3.1 Pro and can’t figure out how to get my Pro License on this version. Any ideas?
June 29th, 2010 at 7:37 pm
Doug, you have to purchase the upgrade, you do it from the licensing page in the preferences of Astra.
