Build 61: The return of My Mail Panel.

Build 61 is now available. After weeks of heavy-duty work, this week we worked on a minor but hugely popular feature: My Mail Panel. The mail panel is now better than ever, sporting more detailed tooltips, all new icons, new icon views and a super-neato unread mail counter. This feature is now available for AIM, MSN and Yahoo, and Gmail support is coming soon! We’ve also worked to improve a few of the reported bugs in the new MSN engine, so those of you having problems in Build 60 should try 61 and report back with your results.
Please note: you will need to enable My Mail Panel in your connection preferences, on a per-connection basis (Preferences -> Identities & Connections -> Your Connection Settings -> Miscellaneous), before it will appear in your contact list. The default behavior will be ‘on’ for new users, but we did not write code to update existing user preference files – alpha testers will need to specifically enable this feature.
Enjoy the build and have a great weekend!

Loving the build so far =]
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:42 pm
Here we go! (Rats, missed the first response again – darn satellite internet
)
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:43 pm
Excellent
People will be so happy about the My Mail Panel
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:44 pm
MSN Works a lot better now o.o
Used to mess up sometimes even with the patch.
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:49 pm
And this fixed the “User is not Online” Error with MSN. That was very annoying at times =]
Thanks again.
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:53 pm
Just upgraded from build 60, still cannot connect to MSN
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:55 pm
When I click on the icon in MyMail for my MSN account, the browser opens and tries to open a URL “file://c:/documents”
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:01 pm
My icons for the My Mail Panel, seem to still appear as the old icons and looks pixelated
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:03 pm
Loving the build. Still having high CPU issues when I click on the Astra Profile Editor.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:05 pm
linuxidiot … restart, it seems to fix that issue.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:09 pm
This is nice and all, but it seems like such a trivial “feature” when other major functions still aren’t working. When do we get conferencing and webcam back? I use conferencing for work, and every time I have to switch back to my old 3.1 build, which is quite a pain in the ass on Vista, let me say.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:09 pm
wowo thanks
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Signe … to the people that use these built in mail accounts, this feature was for more important than all the audio/video. Knowing how huge of a pain that will be to add all that AV stuff back in and have it working good with all mediums, it will probably the last build of the alpha.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:29 pm
It will be out in due time methinks. Every build either way is an important step towards coming closer to a Beta/Final.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:32 pm
Well, 5 minutes in, I’ve already filed my first bug: Trillian thinks I have 57126336 new messages for a MSN account
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:39 pm
Mail works for yahoo and aim, but not for MSN. Launches page file:///c:/documents… this happens both if I click on the mail icon that was set up or when I click on the new mail message that pops up.
November 2nd, 2007 at 6:50 pm
MSN mail opens My Computer. I’m on vista.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:16 pm
looks like things are working fine for me
the my mail feature is a very welcome addition to Astra
well done peeps!
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:22 pm
DiamondNRG, I’d disagree pretty heavily. The ability to log into your web-based mail account isn’t compromised in any way by Trillian not showing you how many unread messages you have. A set of feature that is completely missing and unusable seems like it should be a higher priority than one that is nothing but a minor convenience.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:27 pm
I remember with the regular Trillian Pro having a plugin that enabled checking of pop3 accounts other than the ones directly connected to your IM accounts. Is this going to be a possibility with Astra?
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:30 pm
Can someone tell me how to reenable that feature? I miss any option to enable it
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:31 pm
OMG!!!! Thank you! Mail Alerts!
If you guys could just get wiki-lookup working, I’ll FedEx you a big ol… um… ugh… too mushy, BYE!
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Finally the mail section is back. I would like to be able to select the size of themail icons independently of the contacts size.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:38 pm
This is great! Only a couple things I would still like to see: video fuctionality and a new spam challenge plugin. Keep up the good work guys. This is a really nice feature to have back with Astra.
November 2nd, 2007 at 8:03 pm
OMG! I seriously cannot wait for AStra any longer =((((((
If it’s not out by December 25, I want Astra for xmas
November 2nd, 2007 at 8:06 pm
I lost my password for trillian astra and was wondering how to retrieve it. Please can anyone help. i accidently deleted my email with the password for kashn95@yahoo.com (please no spam)
November 2nd, 2007 at 8:26 pm
Awww, kashn95, you’re no fun..

Please remember that this is ALPHA software. If you want to use the production software, that is your choice, as is using the ALPHA. Lighten up and let the peeps work.
Great job guys, 61 looks great.
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:42 pm
*Sigh*.
It’s almost my one year anniversary of waiting for Astra!
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I wish I could give it to you
I want A/V support, too, but everyone has different “must-have” features. This time, the MyMail people will end up happy. I shall wait for my day. We must remember what Darknight630 said:
“Every build either way is an important step towards coming closer to a Beta/Final.”
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 pm
61 beauty, getting better with each upgrade, great work guys.
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:32 am
oh thanks! I had to buy 2 keyboards already because they got wet from all the excitement of ‘My Mail’ working….No really..it was drool…sick puppies!
Thanks for the Mail Indicators…Now to hope/plead/encourage REV23 Dev to match mail icon types/colors for the other Popibilities (POP server/GMail/Jabber/et al)
Again, thanks CS! This is the integration I was yearning for!
November 3rd, 2007 at 1:15 am
When will we get access to edit the colors in the installed skins? I love some of the colors but I can’t use them because I can’t see the text. Like some of them are dark blue text on a black screen.
November 3rd, 2007 at 1:58 am
Priceless!!! Thank You.

rich, that is stupid, plugins should use Trillian’s included icons for those of us that make iconsets, otherwise plugins don’t match.
And to signe … A/V is a big deal, they can’t just rush it, sorry you think the mail section is a waste of your time, but see all these other people, yeah, they wanted it.
November 3rd, 2007 at 6:33 am
oh, I wasn’t aware that this build had the newer mail icons for those services (gmail/jabber/other pop). I still have the old icons. I’ll have to figure out a way to use the new ones. What I meant to say was, since this build uses a newer icon (white inside, colored envelope – open front view) instead of the older icon (yellow inside, white envelope – angled view) that REV could adapt the new icon in different colors for the other services. But yay..I’ll have to look for those other ones!!
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:57 am
Once again another great update.. thanks for brining back the mail panel!
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:21 am
Until now I didn’t get the new version, my Trillian is in “Offline Mode”…
Trying to install it manually
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:40 am
All works! Thanks. Problems with necessity of input of password GMAIL. I wait interface Russian
November 3rd, 2007 at 11:58 am
No one seems to have noticed the obvious…
There’s a “My Mail” entry for “trillian@trillian.im.”
I guess this means that Trillian Astra will include its own webmail accounts?
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:43 pm
How can I see the list of people have me in msn?
November 3rd, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Both my MSN mail icons have erroneous counts. 58333808 on one, and 1852401780 on the other. When I try to “log into email” on the first one its “not a supported account” and on the second one, I have no email. I never use these anyways, just odd looking.
November 3rd, 2007 at 5:01 pm
Yeah Im now able to connect to MSN again.
Thanks.
November 3rd, 2007 at 5:12 pm
I also can connect to MSN. So far so good. Thank you.
Cheers,
Thommi
November 3rd, 2007 at 6:04 pm
IanWatson … if you looked at the envelope color, you would notice that is just the email account that their test account uses for MSN. Nice try though.
November 3rd, 2007 at 6:21 pm
Great job guys! Like others, I can now connect to MSN. Still slip off Invisible mode though in MSN and Google. Maybe fixed in Build 62?
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:21 pm
geterry, I’m getting the same MSN Mail link “file:///c:/documents” when clicked. AOL and Yahoo seem A-OK. I’ve also been getting a Vis C++ Runtime error (followed by error 203 at 08F04E9D) upon exit, but that might be a plugin incompat issue.
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:17 pm
Does anybody else have a problem logging into the Alpha site to file bugs?
I get Error #272 during server poll.
I need a bugzilla entry for the bugzilla !!!
November 4th, 2007 at 7:29 am
I have a question to the author:
How is the skin, used in the upper foto, called and where can I download it?
November 4th, 2007 at 8:39 am
The MSN bug is gone! Thanks
November 4th, 2007 at 8:48 am
How would I go about re-downloading the Astra Software if I’ve deleted everything on my computer since the email for the download was sent to me?
Can I get the link to download astra again?
I still have my Trillian Astra login Information.
November 4th, 2007 at 12:17 pm
The link is in the email. You need the link to download it. The link is not availabe publicly anywhere.
November 4th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
I have problems to add a new msn contact, I could not add it, I had to use another program (aMSN)
November 4th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Hopefully this build won’t cause a 100% cpu load and memory leak when switching between network connections (like wireless to wired) w/out shutting down the system. I don’t have bugzilla access so I can’t check there to see if this was submitted.
November 4th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
Nope, bug still there. When switching from wired to wireless connection (basically by unplugging the ethernet cable), the CPU usage shoots up to 80+% with the other 20% or so taken up by a svchost process that wasn’t using any CPU usage before. Memory useage for trillian shoots through the roof, gradually getting larger until it takes over all the swap. I disconnected about a minute ago and it was use 32mb or so of private bytes according to SysInternals Process Explorer, and now it’s up to 198 and climbing. When I kill it, the SVCHost drops down, too.
It doesn’t seem to have this issue if I restart the program on wireless and then reconnect the ethernet cable while trillian’s already running, and I didn’t have this issue until build 60 (previous builds work fine).
If anybody needs more details out of Process Explorer, or can get me bugzilla access, pop me a private e-mail (jake [at] orty [dot] com). I can’t find my original Astra login email so I don’t know if that’ll get me into bugzilla or not.
November 4th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
So I am having a problem with this it seems that only 1 msn account will load up in this. I have 3 aim 3 yahoo 3 msn and 1 gmail all the rest load up fine but the 2 msn accounts. Is this a bug or something on my end or what? If I close the Astra version and open up the reg pro version everything works fine in their. Anyways any help would appreciate it. Thx’s
November 4th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
Somehow I can’t seem to make that work, I even don’t find the panel. This is a picture showing how it looks like in the german version:

[...] new Trillian Astra build was pushed out on Friday. This build focused more on adding mail support for the various clients, and fixing some of the Windows Live Messenger (MSN) [...]
November 4th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Rockzentrale … click the skin, follow the link to Kid’s blog and click the link to download the file and put in C:\Program Files\Trillian\skins\ and then select the skin from the preferences.
orty … http://bugs.ceruleanstudios.com the username and password are the same as the ones you use to download builds. Then once you see the page create a new account. And yes, all of this was spelled out in the email you were not supposed to delete.
November 5th, 2007 at 4:10 am
great build. MSN is still struggling with the invisibility mode though. Keeps setting me back online…
November 5th, 2007 at 4:14 am
one minor bug…pictures do not appear on all msn contacts…
November 5th, 2007 at 7:29 am
Great build. MSN now works for me as well. I do have problems with MSN when logged into my company’s VPN. I’d like to send you more detailed diagnostics other than the logging on / disconnect messages that I get in the status window. Is there any way I could get more details to figure out why this is an issue? Also is there any different ip/port settings that the new plug-in uses that the old plug-in does not. That might be the culprit.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:38 am
something new for me . . . my MSN connection is going in and out, in and out (by the second). None of my other connections do that, just MSN. I tried restarting Trillian with no luck. I even tried deleting the account & then recreating it and it still did the same thing.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:16 am
I am finding it to be very stable and email is working perfectly, nice job!
November 5th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Bug with unicode fonts. Hebrew font in Message Window ~6px. And it won’t change.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
my msn is not connecting at all — i have 2 msn ids, and neither will connect.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:45 pm
DiamondNRG: Yeah, I know I wasn’t supposed to delete the e-mail, and I thought I filed it away for future reference, but I’ll be darning if I can find the thing anywhere. Thanks for the info!
November 5th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
Yeah it is probably just me but i can not get the my mail feature to work.
I go into settings, but there is nothing under the misc. group.
Not to mention that now i can’t edit any widgets in my profile without it crashing the program totally.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
I would like to know if other are having this problem.
When I use the jabber plugin to connect to the jabber server it fails, but works when i use pidgin
November 5th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Disregard last message about the my mail feature. I got it working, but the widgets are still FUBARing Trillian any time i try to use them.
November 5th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
This is probably the most solid Astra build yet. Nice work guys!

Laptop Dell Latitude D820 with Vista Business (Core 2 Duo 2GHz with 2Go Ram)
Switching from office location (ethernet) to home location (wifi) (after an hibernation status, so, no reboot) … my computer become unusable after 10 minutes …
Calling task manager took more than 5 minutes … and trillian was silly with 50% cpu and … 1,5 Go RAM !!! … imagine the swapping on the disk …
i killed the process, but this build is unusable for me …
November 6th, 2007 at 8:16 am
When I click on the icon in MyMail for my MSN account, the browser opens and tries to open a URL “file://c:/documents”
November 6th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
I Have the same problem for Jabber as frank3427…
Trillan pro work jabber fine but not in this version, I hope you guys can fix it soon!
November 6th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
@jimich: Good, glad I wasn’t losing my mind. I have a Sager 5420 laptop with Pentium M 2.0ghz (770) with 2gb of RAM and Trillian just eats it up like that when changing networks or coming out of Stand By into another network, like you ran into. I can’t use this build, either, and had the same issue with build 60 as well. Prior to build 60 was fine, however.
And I wish I hadn’t deleted my astra login e-mail — I never delete that sort of stuff, but somehow I did. But I’d love to submit this as a bug with the process explorer library information when it crashes, as it looks like most of the handles and processor power is being sapped up in a msvcr71.dll thread from trillian, according to sysinternal’s process explorer. Don’t know if that helps at all. When I plug the network cable back in to get back on the network that Trillian was originally on, CPU/memory usage drops again, but if I unplug it or move to another network, it hits into freakout mode again.
November 6th, 2007 at 7:41 pm
Orty, I sent you an email to help you out.
November 6th, 2007 at 8:34 pm
I’m still having the clicking on “Profile Editor”, astra freezes up.
November 7th, 2007 at 2:23 am
this what i waiting for
November 7th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Margarette, are you using the Cordonata skin? It does not work in other skins.
November 7th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
@DiamondNRG – i am having a similar problem, & i am using cordonata skin. But my issue occurs when i go to add anything to the profile, not at the start of the profile editor.
November 7th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
My Mail feature for MSN still FUBARed.
Tries to open the referencing file on my drive, & it instead opens 4 seperate web sites relating to parts in the file location it was attempting to open.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:28 am
very nice work guys
I just started having a crash problem on shutdown of the client, as soon as i get something sold to post in bugz i will do so. This was with build 60, so we will see what happens with this new build.
Thanks for all your hard work!
gentoo
November 8th, 2007 at 4:39 am
Hi,
i wonder every time when the minimal cordonata skin will be included. the tabbed containers are to big for me, i want to be able to disable the newsticker and make the window frames a lot smaller… will there be a minimal version?
November 8th, 2007 at 10:26 am
Using the latest build, I cannot get onto Yahoo. Yahoo Messenger is working fine.
Error when authenticating with the Yahoo! login server: code 1236
November 8th, 2007 at 11:23 am
chrislu .. Cordonata is a SkinXML skin, this means it is designed as it is. STIXE skins (like Cobalt) use Interfaces (such as minimal). Therefore there is no minimal version of Cordonata, and the only way there ever would be … would be if Kid decided to make an entirely separate skin for it, which is not likely.
November 8th, 2007 at 11:24 am
Also, I forgot to mention, you can already disable the “knowledge bar” … it is in the Trillian Preferences, under Text Messages -> Knowledge Bar.
November 8th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
thanks for the info, but i can not find this setting in the preferences…
November 8th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
Sorry, Text Conversations, and then you pick Instant Lookup on the left side. Then all the different RSS feeds will be listed on the right, just click the red X on all of them and then close the preferences. (If you switch to another page of the preferences it won’t delete them properly).
November 8th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
thanks that worked perfectly!
November 9th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
mm why i am having this problem
Warning: %user% is logged in from an unverified computer! when i chat with others
November 9th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
mussadek, that feature has not been fixed up yet, it has to do with them being on a different IP address than the one they initially installed it with… They will fix that soon enough
November 9th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
DiamondNRG, thanks for the info
