Build 64, Build 6.

New builds for Win32 and Mac OS X today. Build 64 is a quick bugfix build focusing primarily on fixing some outstanding crashes, but we’ve also finally re-enabled proxy support! We expect a few more problems with our proxy code, so please test it in your environment and let us know if things aren’t functioning. Build 6 continues some internal structural work as we prepare to bring more exciting features up to the user interface.
We also added a new Business Card Widget, and updated our existing Travel Map USA Widget to allow easier editing.
The office will be closed Thursday and Friday of this week in observance of the holiday. We wish all our American friends a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

November 21st, 2007 at 7:24 pm
I’ve noticed that if you’re running this on Vista, sometimes a Trillian message window will start blinking on the taskbar for no reason. This seems to happen after I get a message.
For instance. I get a message, pop the window up to glance at it, figure it’s not that important to reply back so I click on one of my background windows, say FireFox. Then, that same Trillian message window will start blinking on the taskbar as if a new message came in. It’s like it takes more time than it should to acknowledge that I read the message than it should.
November 21st, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Heh… “Build 64 is a quick bugfix build focusing primarily on fixing some outstanding crashes”. Ironically, while running build 63, I hadn’t experienced any crashes. Yet, no sooner had I installed build 64 than I had a crash – probably related to my WiFi card disconnecting from the AP (holiday week and I’m visiting the folks’ and their AP and my WiFi card are not getting along tremendously well).
Overall, it’s seemed that none of the Trillian releases have responded real well to the network connectivity going missing. At least this release doesn’t seem to be eating my profile when it crashes.
November 21st, 2007 at 9:54 pm
when will be about to “send messages to all” be enable?
November 21st, 2007 at 10:03 pm
yep likewise with ‘predator2104′…
File transfer problem is still there…no send file button and error ===> *** Error: “nickname”@hotmail.com is running a client that does not support file transfers.
November 21st, 2007 at 10:55 pm
EXCELLENT!
I’VE POSTED THREE TIMES NOW AND TWO OF THOSE TIMES MY EXACT REQUESTS OR SUGGESTIONS WERE MADE. IT’S GOOD SEEING THE ADMINISTRATION HERE READING POSTS AND ACTUALLY DOING THINGS!
THE TRILLIAN TEAM IS EXCELLENT WHEN IT COMES TO LISTENING AND TAKING ACTION, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I’VE GOT NO NEW SUGGESTIONS FOR THE COMING WEEK. THANKS FOR WORKING ON CRASHES AND ADDING NEW ELEMENTS TO TRILLIAN ASTRA. KEEP THOSE WIDGETS COMING!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!
November 21st, 2007 at 11:16 pm
trparky … that bug has been around for at least 6 months and is not Vista only, check bugzilla for more info.
wlongdon, for MSN I take it? I am pretty sure that the MSN network does not allow that or something crazy like that. MSN does need file transfers back though…
November 22nd, 2007 at 12:35 am
Thank you and happy thanksgiving to all

How can I log off another copy of trillian if my instance crashed on log off. When I try to sign in, it keeps on asking me to log off the other copy when the other copy isn’t running.
November 22nd, 2007 at 1:16 am
pnkrkrgeo92 … make sure the process is not running first.
November 22nd, 2007 at 3:52 am
the invisibility issue with msn is back…keeps on setting me back online. kinda annoying. seemed to be working in build 63.
November 22nd, 2007 at 5:11 am

it is getting tiresome but still having trouble using Google Talk, because Trillian Astra is limited to the gmail.com domain only. However I am not a Gmail subscriber but having a screen name for GTalk linked to my email, which is not with Gmail.
November 22nd, 2007 at 3:05 pm
A dumb question, where can I download MacOSX build?
November 22nd, 2007 at 3:32 pm
I really love trillian moreover Astra, lots of things are being introduced to finally make it lot better than any other IM Software, Thank You guys,
I’ve seen that you’ve tried to make autologin into inbox, but Internet Explorer’s ActiveX and script running restriction is preventing the autologin, and making it go to sign in page instead. If we allow the activex to run by clicking in yellow ribbon right at startup then it works well as expected. I recommend you to use a small hack to it, write following line at top of html tag of cache page
this will ensure IE that this page is saved by user, making the script run without showing yellow ribbon alert at IE startup. And remember url=(0001) should be intact as you might already know unless you hack registry you wont be able to use another number, as saved url no is counted by OS while saving the file.
Also I am eagerly waiting to see IRC plugin working,
thanks,

Well, I’m still getting lots of crashes when I use widgets. Oh well, I haven’t found a very good use for them yet.
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:58 pm
Every time i start Trilly it shows me this screen and then the cpu usage goes to 100 % for about 30 seconds, the window freezes, and after this time, nothing happens. cpu usage goes back to normal. I’ve tried with usual uninstall from the CP and a fresh install, same thing. Problem occurs with the previous version and still exists in the latest build. Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. (seems like some error connecting to astra profile to me…)
Thanks in advance!
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:59 pm
Oh, I forgot… Win Vista OS.
November 22nd, 2007 at 11:21 pm
ester, there is no IRC plugin for Astra. You need to use the 3.1 version, it works just fine in Astra. Eventually there will be a new IRC plugin made by the user KingIR.
vtol, use the Jabber plugin like you were told before.
November 23rd, 2007 at 12:13 am
IRC plugin of 3.1 version works when seen in status window of IRC but it doesn’t actually show any window even after clicking “Join a channel”, it did same Windows XP as well as Windows Vista. Thats why I said, I am waiting 4 it to work.
Thank you for your reply.

FireBlazer – you need to get an invitation from CS, the download link will be included. you can sign up for testing at http://www.astra.im
November 23rd, 2007 at 12:17 pm
ester, sounds like you did not install it right. It works fine for me on build 64. Did you copy all the language files to it as well?
What skin are you trying to use it with?
November 23rd, 2007 at 12:22 pm
Brumec – I have the same problem!
This screen appears and the same thing happens to my processor. As you can see from THIS SCREENSHOT I get the exact same thing. (I even tried loading it twice…) I’ve uninstalled it so many times and re-installed all the new builds since about 60. I would like to use Trillian! Bugzilla team hasn’t been helpful by merging my ticket with a bunch of other errors that were nothing alike. I just hope they know what they’re doing and release a new build… that fixes this. Soon! (Vista Ultimate. A very clean system. No reason this should have just started happening.)
November 23rd, 2007 at 7:41 pm
Please Guys give me back the old build I have the exact same problem with trillian freezing at the log in screen. I would love to have its great functionallity. I tried reinstalling trillian but that didn’t work either…
Pc:
Amd athlon am x2 4600+
nvidia 7900gt
3 gb ram
vista
November 23rd, 2007 at 8:12 pm
Brumec/mholt…
Did you guys do clean uninstalls? As in removing the C:/Program Files/Trillian directory COMPLETELY and to also remove the Trillian directory buried under your Windows user folder, either in AppData or Application Data (both of which are usually hidden) ?
That screen really makes it look like it can not access your user account settings…
November 23rd, 2007 at 11:48 pm
I am really sorry, but IRC plugin really doesn’t work for me in whatever system, whatever skin, clean or updated install, problem is same really doesn’t. Same IRC plugin is working for Trillian 3.1 version. I am using mIRC currently, but want to go back to trillian’s IRC.
Out of context but let me take this chance to report some other things
- Doesn’t start up dialog seem little bulky as compared to trillian’s any other dialog?, it could be modified to be more beautiful and small, in same size it currently takes.
- Also in minimal skin the systray alert is very small than needed.
- Status is not updated, like mail count till contact window itself is opened or new mail arrives.
Anyways thats what I think that will make Astra more beautiful.
Are we not permitted in bugzilla of trillian? where is its url?
Thanks
November 24th, 2007 at 6:12 am
Hello Trillian Team,
I love trillian, I’ve taken few hours to design for the splash screen of Trillian Astra, to suggest the look to you ppl. 4 that I atleast deserver a reply comment if not implimentation
Below is the link to the screenshot of design (I’m not sure if it go beyond moderation of this blog)
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/4849/doneus3.png
This design can be modified to any color, any size, add any additional things like buttons, just email me
Thankyou ppl!
November 24th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Cool idea that design, I was wondering if it was possible to customize the splash screen, that will be really cool!
But for now, we need some stuff to work fine, has anyone reported that send file bug, to Bugzilla or should i do it?
November 24th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
This is a random thing to post in a comment, but one thing that I’d love to have in Astra’s Currently Playing Song, is reports from Last.FM, which’d make a nice function.
November 24th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Diamond: Upon reading your post, I tried this. I also cleared out all registry entries with “Trillian” involved.
Same issue. My system was totally wiped clean of Trillian. Thanks for workin’ on this…
November 24th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
So I’ve done some troubleshooting and here’s the solution. (for startup freezing in vista, that is).
(renaming should do, lol)
Firstly, go to C/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/ and backup the Trillian folder to some remote location
Secondly, try deleting the ‘accounts.ini’ file in C/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Trillian/users/global
Now start your Trilly.
Seems like something gets messed up in here, and the only thing that looks suspicios is Status Message, which is set to the last playing song in my case and looks something like ‘%E2%99%AB%20Sick%20Puppies%20%2D%20Do%20you%20know%2E%2E%2E’
This should be a quick fix (and if it is not working, this is how I’ve done it… Backup the same Trillian folder, then shift+del the Trillian folder in Program Files, clean your registry, shift+del the Trillian folder in Users (the one you’ve backed up, d0h), reinstall Trillian, then rewrite the whole Trillian dir in Users with the backed up one, and change the old accounts.ini with the fresh one. Start Trilly and voila!)
November 24th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Thank you virgoville. But do I have to signup again for a MacOSX build?
November 24th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
ester: The splash screen is the exact same size as any other wizard dialogs in Trillian.
November 24th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
Sudip and all others regarding splash screen…
It is functional, it works, it looks fine, its gone in a few seconds … if anything people want the option to turn it OFF. Not really a point in spending tons of time designing something everyone will only see for a few seconds and a lot of people will never see.
Just my significantly educated and informed opinion.
~ Nick
November 25th, 2007 at 12:24 am
Sure Nick you are very true in functional part of view, I too thought in same way about it at beginning, that current priority is bug killing and feature building for trillian, i just showed it because at final build at least team will also consider about look of splash screen at least at final day
. But I tell you for people look is also what it matters, the same person who can’t afford a “Please donate us!”, “Trial 4 ever blah blah” type of dialog as splash screen surely wont like a dialog as splash screen that will look similar either
mainly when autologin is ON in trillian. I don’t want trillian splash screen to be considered like that, its just that. At least same type of splash screen as in trillian 3.1 that used to be inside the body of main window, would be better.
A single example, compare the splash screen of Microsoft Office 97-2000 and Office 2007, they both took only 1 second at start but they have been making it look better and better, isn’t there a cause? I believe there is.
Anyways trillian for me is always good because of its need, I need to login to many IM accounts at once. I may or may not care the look, but surely I am not only the target of Trillian.
Oops! comment is growing bigger
Sorry, if I’ve said anything that hurts.
Thank you.
November 25th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
@DiamondNRG
jabber is not working with the Gmail screen name either… so, plz stop telling me to do so, it is getting tiresome. same as posting a simple bug as that over and over again and waiting for fix at build 213 in 2009
November 25th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
vtol, well it works for most of us, so why don’t you go to bugzilla and add to the bug rather than bitching endlessly in the blog like a stupid little girl.
Thanks.
November 25th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
And for the record vtol, I just logged into a GoogleTalk username with the Astra GoogleTalk plugin that does NOT HAVE A GMAIL ADDRESS … so even that works …
November 25th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
FireBlazer – i’d suggest you to use forums or search the blog more properly
(the thing is, all the blog posts are one long thread… and you can wait too long for the answer…)

…eh, i meant all the blog COMMENTS… … you know what i mean
November 25th, 2007 at 5:47 pm
STILL does not sign into MSN, has not worked since build 58, I take it the dev’s don’t care!!
November 25th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
Ben … they do care … in fact they care so much they specifically set up bugzilla for you be able to report that and give them information on it so they can fix it. So go use the system designed for fixing things, instead of just complaining here.
November 25th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Brumec: You are my hero! That fix works for me as well! Worked like a charm. Which is odd, cause you wouldn’t expect any troubleshooting to actually work…
Astra team: Can you publish this fix or work it into Trillian somehow? It’s simple enough but more basic computers users may not want to do this themselves.
November 26th, 2007 at 12:12 am
vtol, I am using domain other than gmail in gtalk plugin of astra it is working fine for me ever since.
Ben, is your password longer than 14 chars? If so messenger part of MSN doesn’t accept more than 14 chars in password, skip wiriting after 14th char and it will work well.
And DiamondNRG, can you please give me url of trillian bugzilla please.
November 26th, 2007 at 3:26 am
Sudip Regmi, nope, my password is shorter than that
November 26th, 2007 at 9:18 am
OS – WinXP SP2
Creating the business card is working. However when I try to edit it, it is crashing.
Are we going to be able to add an image of our own to the business card?
November 26th, 2007 at 11:08 am
virgoville. Thanks much. This certainly helps. I have requested to have added to MacOSX testing
Cheers.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:16 am
Sudip…
http://bugs.ceruleanstudios.com/ the username/password is the same as the download ones, from your invitation email. Then once you are in, then you create an account.
November 27th, 2007 at 5:14 am
@DiamondNRG
Well, I reckon you sound more like the bitching little girl you are calling others here. I am sure not what are your privileges to be allowed of flaming, but open up your eyes/mind and consider reality, which is not that peachy as you might like/see it.
The development of Trillian is rather slow, and this is not my gut feeling, just a comparison to IM applications developments. There are lately a lot of gimmicks popping up rather than straighten out bugs from the core features.
And indeed, I did try to file this with bugzilla, however the user name and password provided for the login did not work, which fact I mentioned in an email to customer-service@ceruleanstudios.com on Oct 27. This has never been responded.
And that is tiresome to my experience, although you might not like people criticising you beloved baby
Hence, please change your attitude, nobody has attacked you
November 27th, 2007 at 6:17 am
vtol, I realize you don’t like being called out….
The bugzilla username/password is the same as you use to download the installer. Once through that, you can create a new account.
I want you to get into bugzilla and to report it so it can be fixed, but your endless whining in the blog is just not the way to do it. Nor do I care how much you don’t like my blog post “attitude”
Hopefully that helps you get into bugzilla.
November 27th, 2007 at 11:39 am
I’m chompin’ at the bit waiting for my alpha login.. keep up the great work guys.
November 27th, 2007 at 11:50 am
Diamond – just an FYI, but i have never been able to log into bugzilla with the username & password that was supplied for the original download. I have just been accessing it a different way, since the user name pass would not work.
November 27th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Diamond – thanks for the help, i was able to finally access bugzilla with the same user/password combo used for the download of the installer.
November 27th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
What I’m really waiting for is when we can rename our Yahoo contacts, and have it save when we restart Trillian
November 27th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
semantik … that works fine and has for a very long long time. Are you using a pirated version by chance? Because you have to be connected to the Astra medium for it to work.
November 27th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
what I don’t understand, who uses a proxy server anymore? proxies slow down an internet connection to a crawl. I wouldn’t care how concerned I was about security, its not worth it running behind a proxy, so why support it?
November 27th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
I mean, I understand dial-up, because people still use that, but who would ever run a proxy?
November 27th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
bubazoo … It is for people who have to use a proxy, like in corporate settings. It is very important and very popular. Keep in mind not every feature is for every user.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:47 am
@DiamondNRG
it is true, I do not like your snotty attitude and I should not have attempted to stop you from cutting everybody short who dares to speak out about the beta development.
well, I just realized that it is just your personality, so no big deal to keep you happy by contuing posting in the blog
November 28th, 2007 at 6:45 am
@vtol n bubazoo .

@ DiamondNRG
I use Proxy and 10000 students of my college use a proxy server at their hostel and there are thousands of colleges around the world .Hope u got the point .
Thanx for the update. every time i had to check for it downloading the file and finally this update
thanku so much
.It is not working for me but [:(]
i m using http proxy port 3128 .
@ vtol n bubazoo .: what do u guys understand by a proxy server :O .Watch it before saying it .
one of the best out here.
And i bet u , ur browsing speed is nothing as compare to mine :p
November 28th, 2007 at 10:56 am
…anyway… the 4.0.0.64 – Pro Version (November 21 Alpha) is working fine.
but i am still missing the IRC plugin so far. Can’t await for that^^…
just missed it now, ’cause i wanted to use it right now…
will try something at next : add the ‘old’ Trillian 3.x irc plugin here into astra. will report you, whether it works or not.
have a nice day !
regards nayss
November 28th, 2007 at 11:19 am
…add :
just added ceruleans IRC plugin from Trillian 3.x into plugin-folder of astra… restarted.. and :
it works perfect !
so ester… should you (or anyone else) need informations, how to do, contact me via eMail : mail@nayss.com
@all : have a nice day.
used versions :
trillian astra 4.0.0.64 – Pro Verion, November 21 Alpha
IRC Plugin : irc.dll 3.1.8.0
regards nayss
November 28th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
hey, R U sure that IRC.DLL version is 3.1.8.0? The one I have is 3.1.0.121, if yes where can I download new IRC plugin?
November 28th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
DiamondNRG i use to be able to send message to all my contact at once.
but it crashed my computer (i sent the error to bugzilla
do you know when this is going to be fixed?
November 28th, 2007 at 1:41 pm
ester… The current version of 3.1 is 3.1.8.0 so all plugins state that as their version, this latest update only had changes to MSN and YAHOO.
The 3.1 version of ICQ has not changed in a long time and works in Astra.
nayss … There is not and will not be a 4.0 IRC plugin included in Astra at all. You are correct that 99% of the 3.1 IRC plugin works right and they made sure it would.
In the future, IRC will be developed by a 3rd party plugin that goes by KingIR. This version has a discussion thread in the forums if you would like to give your input.
vtol … thanks for the reply
Did you get your GoogleTalk account working yet?
November 28th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
COOL when can we test it?
November 28th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Hi,
I have noticed something: I have some YM contacts that I rename it in the contacts window.
If I receive a file from one of those renamed contact, in the accept window appears yahoo nick as sender. It would be a lot nicer to have in this windows “renamed” name instead of nick.
Can you make a renamed contact to be persistent in all Trillian windows? If you also think this is nice.
November 28th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
And a second comment (I don’t know if I have ask this before).
I use hibernate feature a lot on my laptop. Usualy when I move between house and job.
I have, normal, different IP addresses at job and at home.
If I put my laptop in hibernate in one network, with Trillian connected, when I resume the computer network gets different address and Trillian is trying to reconect. At this moment, Trillian starts to eat memory – A LOT.
I need to close it from taskmanager and start it again.
I don’t have a crashfile created when force Trillian close.
If I globally disconnect Trillian before entering in hibernate, after resume and reconnect Trillian, I have no problems.
I have reproduce this on a clean Windows installation.
Hope this helps.
November 28th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
@DiamondNRG
Gtalk account is working well, just Trillian Astra is not
November 29th, 2007 at 1:04 am
drabisan … your first request already works, there must be a reason why it is not working on yours … try renaming the contact and logging out instead of exitting, see if it sticks then.
Your second request is currently a bug in bugzilla, hopefully they can fix it soon.
vtol, have you tried using your googletalk username with the @gmail.com ending on it anyways? It seems that works also for GoogleTalk accounts that don’t have the Gmail portion enabled.
November 30th, 2007 at 11:18 am
I realize that this isn’t the bugreport forum, or technical support, but I would like to get know if anyone else gets this issue before I submit it as a bug.
Since the release of build 60 or so, Trillian Astra will start eating memory like a hippo. Overnight, usually between 3am and 9am, trillians RAM usage increases to about 1.5g (yes, thats GIGABYTES) of active ram usage.
Anyone else noticing this, or is it specific to my installation?
Crunchy
November 30th, 2007 at 11:44 am
Who can I talk to to get my Astra and Bugzilla passwords reset? Something happened to them and I can no longer use Astra or post in Bugzilla.

croldham, unfortunately there is no password reset feature for Astra yet. You will probably have to wait until it is public to get it fixed. As far as bugzilla goes, it is probably much easier if you just make a new account.

Hello @ all…
now updated again, now I have/use Trillian 4.0.0.65 – Pro Version, November 30 – Alpha
the update was without any problem. also jabber works, IRC plugin as well.
@ ester
(i’m serious, i’m hard working, haven’t time to read at all here…)
@ DiamondNRG :
…well, i used the irc plugin from latest Trillian 3.1.8.0 – that’s why it is this numbered. Don’t know, whether it is the number u wrote, ester. i hope/think, that diamond knows better about that than me. so it would be the same than yours… my one’s definetively works perfect… (as Diamond said).
and i also knew, that it will be developed by a 3red party. But I wasn’t reading the forum there yet, so I thought to use the old plugin.
but thanks for answering. you brought light into my darkness
wishing everybody a nice weekend…
