Build 67: Bugfixes + Cobalt enhancements.

Build 67 is mostly a bugfix build. We’ve started the process of updating the Cobalt skin with some of the cool new features we’ve been working on recently – namely, the new tooltips and profile editor. Cobalt will also be receiving bubble view in a future build, but it’s not ready yet. Enjoy the build!
There is no auto-update this week; we are still performing maintenance on these servers. Please download the build manually!

December 28th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Awesome that the supertooltips’ hiding has been fixed, was quite annoying
December 28th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
I learned this the hard way – buzz is available in all skins – CTRL-G
Have a nice day!

Im still having issues with this. I install the current.exe from the link but when i launch trill i get the profile box with a yellow “!” in the lower right corner of the profile and then it just hangs there. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and same thing.
December 28th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
What about the A/V feature. Has there been any progress yet?
December 28th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
Is the direct connect feature gonna be enabled anytime soon?

Still experiencing a random crash every now and then when my PC is idle. Trillian just crashes. Is there a way to send an error report?
December 29th, 2007 at 2:39 am
globex, yes! It’s called bugzilla and it’s at http://bugs.ceruleanstudios.com. Fill out the report form, describe what exactly happens (if it is reproducible, when it happens, etc.) and attach the dump file if Trillian created one when crashing. But be sure to search for a similar bug first. If a report for same problem already exists, you may add more information to it and also vote for it, this way it will have a higher priority over the others.

anyone else having an issue with adding widgets in this build? example: when i try to add the weather widget, only a small portion of the weather location box shows up. its such a small portion that i can not add my location or close the location box. therefor i must exit astra to get it off of my screen. i have uninstalled astra and reinstalled, but that did not help the issue.
Good job on the infocard fix.
December 29th, 2007 at 7:29 am
[geterry]
Yeah, thats odd
[Blizz]
True but the fix is incomplete the “supadupatool” allways pops up right when I point on a buddy and there is no feature to set some reaction-time till it’s activated.
I think there are many unfixed bugs left aside and while the amount of features is growing the amount of bugs is growing too!

Ragtimer … that is how alpha works… you add features, it creates bugs. That is why beta exists, to fix the bugs.
December 29th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
thanks for the reply but i have a problem i cant find that email i think i deleted it lol
so now what can i do ??
December 29th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
There is a link in the forums under the first sticky thread in the “Astra Chat” forum section to request the email again.
December 30th, 2007 at 8:06 am
Ragtimer: tbh i wish there was an option to turn the entire supertooltip off entirely because it annoys me to hell, but the fact that it now disappears when it should is a nice start already.
And as DiamondNRG said, it’s a testing process. We’ll get there.
Although slow, Cerulean Studios has never let me down. I wouldn’t have relied on trillian since v0.7 otherwise

Hello Boys!
I’ve a suggestion: how about adding an integrated music player with playlist support, internet radio support (asx, pls, aacPlus…) and other stuff like that, it’s like the Trillytunes plugin, but fully integrated in Trillian. I think the most of us are listening to music while chatting…so why using more resources for winamp or real player, while Trillian is able to do the same!
December 30th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
The Trillytunes plugin is *fully integrated* into Trillian. No need to duplicate all that effort into another plugin IMO.
And when playing music, Trillian will use more resources also, so its not necessarily going to be less in the end.

[...] new build for Trillian Astra has been released to testers. According to the blog, this is mainly a bugfix build with some updates to the Cobalt skin. As with the previous build, [...]

agnostic-stigmata,
I know exactly what you are talking about, I had this happen in previous builds as well, ever since the profile editor existed. For me not only does it occur on adding widgets, but also when editing them, thus rendering profile essentially impossible to edit other than moving existing widgets around. You do not have to restart Trillian though to get rid of the box: right click on it’s entry in the Windows taskbar and select “close.” I did not find anything on this in bugzilla and attributed the bug to my video card, which has weird glitches in certain apps that i’ve never seen occur anywhere else. But since now it’s confirmed that this happens on more than just one computer, perhaps a bug report is a good idea.

does changing my password at the login for the blog change my login to trillian itself?
December 31st, 2007 at 5:47 pm
Has anyone else noticed that trillian sometimes just spontaneously starts using up half the cpu power, even when you are not using trillian, and continues using up the computing power even after a long period of time? Wondering if this might be due to a bug or just a trillian internal process.
January 1st, 2008 at 1:11 am
LordLoki, no it does not, the blog, forums and Astra all have separate password systems.
blueink … yes this is part of a couple bug reports.
January 1st, 2008 at 12:23 pm
I tried to change the skin to the Trillian 3.1 compatible. While changing the skin, Astra crashed. When I try to launch Astra now, I see the system tray icon but nothing else…no right click, no double click is working.. only the icon in the system tray shows up… any idea how to fix this?
January 1st, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Run trillian.exe with the /skinchooser command.
Or you can delete whistler. Those old skins don’t work on the new builds anyways.
January 1st, 2008 at 2:36 pm
What I would really like is that the “spontaneous” MSN status change could be fixed. It’s pretty annoying that you put yourself on away, only to come back and find that a zillion people IM’ed you on MSN because it’s back on “available”, while the other networks are still on away (as they should). Same thing for the invisible status. I can’t put my status on invisible and trust it will still be like that when I return, which makes the entire status thing useless for MSN. ATM I just disconnect.
January 1st, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Yahoo has the same problem, at least from “Idle”.
January 1st, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I use Yahoo as well and I have never experienced that (yet?). It’s only MSN that changes status here. Anyway, I hope it is solved one day (sooner rather than later)
January 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Has anyone else ran into this issue: I am using the cordonata skin and am unable to enter input in a MSN, AIM or Yahoo IM window. Google works fine. I switch to the Cobalt skin and everything works fine. I have reported this symptom as bug 4770. Thanks
January 2nd, 2008 at 1:44 pm
soliphant, why are you unable to enter data? Is it because there is a grey area extending down from the chat history and you have no visible box to input text into?
Preferences > Message Windows > RESET will fix that. It is reported a few times too (as many different things)

Hi All,
I need help with Status messages. I think back in build 62 or 62 I had one set of status messages, before the change to the new grouping of status messages. I have 2 “default” message I want to delete; one is under Default Messages as “set all away” and one is the default Online message.. which I cannot find anywhere in Status messages. Only Main Group and Automatically Saved messages allow me to delete anything.
Help
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:43 am
DiamondNRG – thanks – that solved the problem – will update ticket
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
shdv and agnostic-stigmata,
had the same problem. solved it by installing the newest version of the flash and shockwave player for internet explorer. maybe you should try that.
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
bramscolnick, you are not allowed to edit the default included messages, sorry. Just make a new one.
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:10 pm
The new one I make is constantly overwritten the the default.. and the default is one I wrote originally and was set as default when I went from one build to another. .. the message named as default is not default, was not included with Trillian. Again.. it was a message I created and was set as default.
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Do a complete uninstall, delete all trillian files and folders, including the ones hidden under AppData or Application Data inside your windows user folder and reinstall.
January 4th, 2008 at 12:55 am
If I enable “set status to current music track” it will constantly pop iTunes up (when it’s minimized to an icon in the system tray)….very very annoying. AND, the status message does not even show the current music track!
January 4th, 2008 at 1:37 am
Not trying to be pushy or anything …
But can you guys give us a idea of when the Beta will be ready. I wasn’t lucky enough to get in on the alpha testing.
January 4th, 2008 at 6:39 am
Wait a minute, 8 years old and in a relationship?
January 4th, 2008 at 9:43 am
There should be no need for an uninstall.. that’s dumb.
January 4th, 2008 at 11:16 am
It is an alpha program brams, it has problems … I’m sorry you don’t like having to exert effort to fix it.
tspanks, there is no data for this, sorry.
January 4th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Well, any excuses why build 68 isn’t out yet?
January 4th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Why does there need to be an excuse? It is only halfway through the day in the timezone Trillian is based in. Just relax a bit.
January 4th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
@DiamondNRG
dude…it’s been in “alpha” for what …2 years now? That is no longer an acceptable excuse.
January 5th, 2008 at 4:33 am
For bashing them halfway through the day for not releasing a build? Come on, that is ridiculous and you know it. They can take however damn long they want to release it. You are always just here lurking to post negative stuff. Just kindly move along if you can’t appreciate the effort. You will come crawling back when it is done.
