Build 71.
Build 71 is a minor bugfix build. Additionally, we’ve updated the “Add Contact” panel in the Cordonata skin (Cobalt to follow) to include a built-in group chooser and, when supported, the ability to specify a “Reason” when adding a contact. Certain networks (Astra, ICQ, Yahoo) support this.
The rest of the week was spent working on infrastructure for video calls both client-side and server-side; work will continue on this front and the results are looking very nice so far! We’ll update with more information as soon as we’re able to. Enjoy the build.

Fantastic!! I like the new “Accept”, “Deny”, “Ignore” buttons & questions when a user adds you to their list
Looks good!!! Can’t wait to test some other bug fixes.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:01 pm
good job! keep going on!
February 1st, 2008 at 2:02 pm
GREAT: you fixed bug 4890. Since built 70 I start using LCS plugin and I had to add users guessing accept button!
File transfer in Gtalk and I think this nice software will be ready to be called a beta release.
BTW: when it will be ready, how much it will cost? I still have 3.x but I believe it will not be a free upgrade…
February 1st, 2008 at 2:11 pm
drabisan, there has been no indication of a pricing change, so you would be able to update for as low as $5 USD. Also it will not beta until after all the A/V is done.
So I am not exactly sure about this reason thing, where does it ask you for that? I see the thing for group selection, which is good and ironically something I was just talking about on the forums earlier this week!

Hi – since build 70 I’ve found that my group “AIM Bots” is always expanded when Trillian boots, despite my closing it before exiting Trillian the last time.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:38 pm
If it keeps going in this direction I’ll gladly pay for the upgrade (but a tad faster wouldn’t hurt haha
). Anyway, the money I’ve spent on Trillian in the course of the years has always been worth it in my eyes.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:53 pm
jz, just delete it! AOL should not be allowed to place crap on your list without asking.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Ok, I’m STILL having the same problem, i.e. the MSN.DLL does not/has not worked on my system since v.58.
Every time an update comes out, I have to restore the version .58 copy of that file. I have tried fully uninstalling the program AND renaming the original install folder. No luck.
February 1st, 2008 at 3:08 pm
All the updates sound cool… Looking forward to when i can help test it.
Also, any idea as to when the Mac client will have more testers? I prefer to use my Mac or everything…
February 1st, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Thank you CS for fixing Gtalk, and hopefully you guys are prepping the rest of the audio package for next
February 1st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
jmkinny, they have said the MAC is back burner’d until A/V is done (and likely beta)
February 1st, 2008 at 5:50 pm
going great haven’t had any problems as yet , keep up the great work, upcoming video will be good
February 1st, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Nick said: So I am not exactly sure about this reason thing, where does it ask you for that?
If you click the double up arrow nest to the Add button on the Add Contact screen, a Reason box appears.
And I thought you were smart!!!!!?????
February 1st, 2008 at 9:23 pm
well so far the last build did not has any problem for me. keep the nice work
February 1st, 2008 at 10:36 pm
I’m loving Trillian more and more each build… But there are still two things missing that makes me sad…
I can’t see what my friends are listening to… I see their status message, but not what they’re listening…
And the download rate I reach while using Astra is nothing compared to the one I reach while using Live Messenger. It gets stucked at 2kb/s, I don’t know why.
Hope these are fixed soon…
Thanks for your great work

Way to go on this bugfix. MSN offline messaging appears to work properly for me now and yes the google talk bubble view crash has been fixed. Lookin’ good. Can’t wait until they move into beta status and let us invite friends.
February 2nd, 2008 at 12:40 am
CharlieM, for the record it was not there when it should have been. Yahoo supports reasons and Kid said the reason thing would work for Yahoo and there is no expand button on it. That just happened to be the first one I tried using.
I am smart, I found the bug.

[...] Trillian team has released a new build. Build 71 is mainly a bugfix build, which looks to have fixed the Google Talk crash that a number of us were [...]

where trillian saves the pictures of contacts?
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:28 pm
In your user folder, under buddyicons folder.
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Why can’t I see custom MSN emoticons anymore??
February 3rd, 2008 at 12:22 pm
DiamondNRG, I have these folders in trillian folder:
ICQ
languages
plugins
skins
stixe
users
In users only have global
I copied the folder default of trillian version 2 as default and as quique (my user) and I erased buddyicons folder in both, but the pictures aren’t saved ¿I have something badly?
February 3rd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
sorry, I foud the folder
February 3rd, 2008 at 4:09 pm
I got again same kinda bug with hide button. Hide button fell down to left hand side of trillian below the contact lists.
February 3rd, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Yes, this has happened to me with the “View” button.
February 4th, 2008 at 2:59 am
My trillian astra build 71 keeps crashing!!! x(
February 4th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Anyone else having the issue with the scroll bar of the contact list moving from the right to the left?
February 4th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
@Keefe007 – Yes that is a known bug. It has been reported already. A re-size of the contact list should fix it for the time being though.
February 4th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
@Keefe & Bryan, or you can just minimize your groups and restore them… I don’t like fussing with the contact list width as I never feel I have it back where I wanted it!
February 5th, 2008 at 3:49 am
Are the hide buttons for chat windows going to be in astra like they were in 3.1? I found them useful. I also hope they add a valentine skin next build
February 5th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
They might come back as an option, make sure you vote for the bugzilla entry if you want them to do that. They will never be on by default again though as that caused MASS CHAOS to confused users that accidentally hid windows.
February 5th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Hey, how do you save a chat window view? I like the text controls & small toolbars. But every time I relaunch and open a chat window, it goes back to default toolbars and text. AND my formerly expanded text entry box is now. back to only 1 line.
Any tips?
Thanks
February 5th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
It is a bug that none of that stuff is saved right now. Nothing you can do but wait for them to fix that bug (again).
February 6th, 2008 at 3:06 am
I’m having issues with Jabber. When it’s enabled, Astra crashes on startup.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:48 am
@Brad – Check & make sure that “Preferences -> Message Windows -> Show at the previous location & size” is checked off. If need be try the reset button & see if that helps.
February 6th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Nice to see you fixed the missing text on the authorization buttons
I like the different ways you can display the chat windows
Only thing is we seem to have lost the option add your own buddy icons
(chat window, options. buddy icon) all I see is clear.
Do I have a option turned off, or have it been removed??

February 7th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
i cant add any contacts….what to do?
February 7th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
wlongdon … add them, crash, come back, right click them and pick “re-request authorization”
And as far as fixing it, you just have to wait for build 72, maybe tomorrow
February 7th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Out of interest, will Trillian Astra support Windows Live Messenger’s nickname feature, where, when we log in to our MSN accounts, all of our contacts will already be renamed?
February 7th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Yes, and 3.1 supports that too, they just don’t update right.
February 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
sending message to all wi;; be fixed too Diamond?
February 9th, 2008 at 10:21 am
I having problem with jabber, astra crash when trying to reconnect to server. I am using merak mail server, and i found that recent version of astra doesn’t suite to my merak mail server. i prefer the older one. I hope all the issues will be fix. thanks to all astra developer.
February 11th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Thank you for the latest build. Right now I am running trillian, but i switch to msn or yahoo for video calls. I am looking forward for the next build to try out video calls. So far this current build has proved to be stable, but I only opt for the chat services plugins.
