No build today.
We spent this week working on a few things on our internal lists that did not result in a full build. We may or may not have a build ready for next week depending on progress – at this point our goal is to finish up a few things related to video conferencing before we release the next build. That goal may change and we’ll be sure to update you here if it does, but we wanted to keep the testing team in the loop. Enjoy your weekends and we’ll be back with a new build as soon as we can!

when is release for trillian astra?!? i want to use this program too
February 8th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Sorry to hear that. Good luck & we’ll see you next week.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
While I perfectly well understand this … I think you should have done this last week too… build 71 is so difficult to test with the add contact crash…. I guess maybe I would have hoped that build 72 could have come out today even if it was nothing but a fix for that one bug.
Good luck to you guys anyways, it will be worth it.
PS: But if you still want to release a patch so we can add contacts, that would be great

@Blafoo123
As of now there is no set release date for Trillian Astra. I mean it hasn’t even hit Beta Stages as of yet.
February 8th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Okeydokey – keep up the good work, CS!

I agree with that comment DiamondNRG
have a gd weekend all
February 8th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Yeah the add contact bug is a PITA, big time.
February 9th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Yey! In 2012 we may finally have Trillian Astra Final. I can’t wait!
February 9th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
This is just a bug that has been around since the very beginning when the idea of this feature was firts implemented…it never really worked the first time it was out and hasn’t been fixed yet so since it seems to be long since forgotten, I felt i’d bring the issue up for fun…
The INSTANT LOOKUP WIKIPEDIA FEATURE DOES NOT WORK and has never worked…at least for me for that matter. I’ve never seen anything underlined for me…I’d think a feature like this would be easy to fix as it was in the original Trillia 3.1. If someone can magically get it working again, by all means tell me how you did it otherwise i’d be greatly appreciated if someone could fix this at sometime in Trillian Astra’s prolonged development.

[...] November 2006, and its been in private alpha even prior to that announcement. Current word from the Cerulean Studio blog is that there is still no release date for Astra. And of course, the fact that they haven’t [...]

@ Soul of the – Have you looked on Bugzillia to see if this problem has been reported yet or not? Have you reported the bug? If you find such a great need for your wiki lookup, then you should go back to using 3.1. If you have not gotten the point from your last gripe posts, this is an alfa version, not everything is going to work, or work 100%. That is why you should always have an older version (3.1) installed to fall back on when you need to access a feature that might not be working in the alfa version.
February 11th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Bryan, that bug has been in bugzilla the whole time. It is just not as important to fix. It doesn’t affect anything else. I don’t know why people can’t grasp the concept of the fact that some bugs are trivial and likely won’t be fixed until beta.
PS: It’s “alpha” not “alfa”
February 11th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
I think, I’ll start a bet, when Astra will have Betastatus.
I think, at least Build 90 will still be Alpha.
(18 weeks -> ca. 4,5 months -> June)
February 11th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
LOL @ Diamond!
Wow! sorry i had alfalfa on the brain! At least i didn’t cash the cache!!
February 11th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Martix, there isn’t always a build a week, and you are just ranting. I am sure when they finish adding the features they will do a beta stage.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Ok… maybe.
But they talked about the A/V since November.
“write cam on your amazon wishlist…”
But I’m looking forward testing the Videofeature!

Something you should to add…
If you add someone to your block list
The they automatically add to your ‘unathoizated to add’ list
That way when I get a spammer on ICQ, I just have to block them.
and willn’t get the ‘I want to add you’ message, which they send after.
February 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
BryanX9X, lol. that was funny. The whole word mix up thing, haha, but seriously, what else is in your brain (on it) not much? As diamond said it was in bugzilla the entire time, but many of the suggestions i’ve made here have already been implemented.
Also, ummm….if by using Trillian 3.1 you mean I should go back to using an older version of trillian because it is stable and the feature works, i suppose there’s no need for Trillian Astra. Why don’t we all just use 3.1 forever since it’s so perfect and has no complications and features work that people actually want to use! Wow, that was smart thinking, lol (i’d say!). Way to support the trillian team!
Anyway, maybe you haven’t learned from my last posts, but you really seem to be up to date with me (im flattered to have an admirer), but I think i mentioend- if you followed, that this blog wasn’t created to flatter the programmers and trillian team, but to critique their recent work and all i have to say is RECENTLY and forever the Wikipedia hasn’t worked, so don’t forget about it. Everything in bugzilla may be ignored, but i by posting it here i’m sure it’s gaining notice…even with “alfalfa” crowd.

@ Soul – If being callow was a way of life . . .
If you have been keeping up on these threads, you would have noticed that the point of having a back up of 3.1 still installed, is so that if the feature you wish to use is not currently functioning, then you would have something to revert to. The point was not that you should only be using that version. Because if you have a LEGIT copy of Astra, then you should be using it to test it. But that does not change the fact that you should have a plan B.
If you feel that a bug in bugzilla might be getting ignored, you could always comment on IT & speak with the programmer that has taken that bug on to see what the progress of the bug is.
So your sarcasm aside, i think the point that you are missing is that these threads are not for bashing the program, which you seem to like to do.
Personally i could not care less what you think of me, or your callow remarks. I have tried to assist you, but you insist on not relinquishing your soap box.

Before you try to integrate some unneccessary gimmicks try to fix the massive MSN-Connection-Problems which are getting worse and worse!
February 13th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Revoluza, those are bugs, and the point of ALPHA is to add features. They will fix the MSN connection bugs but it might not be until after the features are finished adding. This is the way development works (at least here).
February 14th, 2008 at 11:49 am
I have been testing Astra for a while now and love the progress guys. Keep up the good work.
Just a few things:
- Group (mass) messaging to groups, not working.
- I notice that when I am away that after a random amount of time my MSN sign-on becomes “online” for status. Timeout problem?
- I’d like to see better away message management. Maybe a “sticky” option where you can designate what away message you want on the recent menu as opposed to viewing all your aways.
Hope you all have a great Valentine’s day.

Oh and I almost forgot! PLEASE fix the Up arrow memory so that I don’t have to cut/paste the last lines typed! Gratzi!

DiamondNRG are you not COMPLETELY wrong? I do believe the last couple of builds ficed over 100 bugs and were bugfix releases… maybe everyone around here needs to redefine their definition of alpha?
“This is the way development works (at least here).” — I think not.
February 14th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Honestly, everyone who is complaining about bugs, you have done nothing wrong. Your plea’s for help and dire bugfixes are being heard! Build 70+71 are proof to that. Keep it up and this program will be bug free which is the way to be!
February 14th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Soul … I never said bugs don’t get fixed, I said features are the priority, which means some bugs will not get fixed till Beta. Do not read further into my posts and make assumptions, it just makes you look foolish.
I do not thing it is wrong to complain about a bug, however the blog is not for bug posts at all, so technically doing your complaining here is wrong and a waste of your time and gives a bad spin on the development of the whole project.
If you care so much to keep voicing your concern over and over for an issue they know damn well exists, then at least do it the proper way.
February 14th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
We are doing our best to balance the bugs that obviously need fixing and the features that remain on our roadmap. From time to time, the balance shifts in the wrong direction and we work hard to equalize it (i.e a 100 bugfix build). Additionally, when we notice a single bug that impacts 100% of the testers in a meaningful way, we’ll put some energy into fixing it as well to ensure testing can continue relatively smoothly.
We are not responding to complaints when we fix bugs – we understand that all the bugs need fixing and of course will be working towards that goal exclusively as soon as we are done adding features. As we’ve mentioned, the major remaining goal for us feature-wise is to finalize audio and video calls after which we’ll begin preparing for a larger-scale beta test, where we will be addressing bugs only.
I hope this clears things up.
February 14th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
lol @ Soul. That silence you hear….. is because Soul has his foot in his mouth.
February 14th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Also, when reporting a bug, don’t just say that the priority is high, because it annoys you that the bug exists.
February 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
No build today, either?
I’m not normally one to nag about builds (or bugs), since I know these things take time, but the broken contact-adding is a rather crippling bug. Even a small hotfix just to restore that functionality would be nice.
