Build 77.

Build 77 re-introduces the ability to join Yahoo and AIM chat rooms and polishes up some of the existing interfaces for creating group conferences for both Yahoo, Windows Live and AIM.
To join a chat room on Yahoo and AIM, click the “Join a Chat…” menu item from the menu of your Yahoo or AIM connection icon on your Connections bar. Be careful when joining Yahoo chat rooms if you don’t know where you’re going – the rooms are largely full of bots that immediately add you to their spam lists.
Enjoy the build!

Interesting… I wonder what happened to video development.
Alright. Let’s go chat I guess.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Humor Note: The chat log at the back pretty much summarizes what you’ll get from Yahoo Chat Rooms.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Excellent, works good too!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
nice
April 8th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Thanks for the great program.
First!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Nice to know that the Auto Update Servers are back up and working again.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Ahh darn, not first!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
No, not first
April 8th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Nice thnx for the update installing and checking for bugs.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
clean update mind, lots of little bits have come back that seemed to disappear recently
April 8th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
everything is smooth for now
April 8th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Update installed nicely.
still no email user-account support for Yahoo accounts.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Okay seems great already, but a couple things I noticed last few builds:
First, it seems that my logs folder and some of the ini files have moved themselves to the my the root on the same drive I Astra on. Actually, not moved, but they are also there now.
Second, and probably related to the first is my changes are not being saved across launches. So, as with this update I would have to re-enter all my names for my contacts.
Otherwise, great job, keep up the great work

alro613: Check this out. If you don’t know how to enable it, visit our forums for more information!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
kookykrazee, all of that is a bug with the astra auto-login. Just turn that off. It is recreating all those files in your root and using them instead of the proper ones and that is why you have to keep making them.
There is a ton of info on this bug in the forums (much better place for info than the blog regarding specific issues)
April 8th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Kid … alro is talking about people that have to sign into yahoo with an @domain.com username, not actually checking email. He posted on it in the build 76 blog “thread”. I don’t think it has an official feature request in bugzilla yet, but I did suggest to him that he create one.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
This build seems to have completely trashed my profile. I’m in some weird state where the login screen appears and looks like it’s trying to connect but it just eats cpu cycles. awesome.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Thank you! This has ben a long awaited feature for me =D
April 8th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
thanks for new build. i am just wondering, how are devs choosing priority of fixing bugs…? never mind…
April 8th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Thank you, but slowly I do not understand any more, why the language packages were not updated again!? Since some changes have been done meanwhile…
April 8th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
DNRG: As soon as all the bugs and requests go to Bugzilla and the forums, that’s good.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Awesome work guys… Look forward to trying out the new features and such!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Build isn’t even usable. From the moment it begins to load it starts consuming 100% CPU and 2-3M of memory per second (both swap and physical) until the system runs out of memory.
Have to troubleshoot more and disable plugins to see if it goes away.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
But today isn’t friday . . .
*wanders off, confused & wondering*
April 8th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Please fix jabber. There are annoying bugs that were introduced months ago. Bugs are reported, but noone wants to bother fixing it. Why offer it as a feature if you don’t intend on supporting it.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Problem appears to be caused by Jabber, so far. Disabled all plugins, no issue. Enabling Jabber causes memory to immediately start climbing.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
barbos, there is no support for alpha products. Statements like that make you look silly. Use 3.1 if you need a stable client for business purposes.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
nrg: im still having that same installation problem that was caused by skyillian everytime I try to upgrade/reinstall trillian. Please tell me how to get rid of that.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
blueink … did you remove the Skyllian files from your trillian user profile directory? That is the only thing that could cause it.
I would just make sure you have physically removed all the SkyLlian files, including the ones in your profile directory and it should work. If not try a clean install.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Hi Guys,
i disabled auto-login for astra-accound but for some ICQ-Contacts there is no item in list. Only the name is listed.
Jan
April 8th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Jan, what do you mean by “there is no item in list”?
April 8th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Jabber isn’t really supported in 3.1 either. They rewrote the whole plugin, but it would be nice if they’d at least get it back to where it was before abandoning it. I realize it’s an Alpha (more like a closed Beta), but it would be nice if they could revisit some of these old pending issues that would take 5 minutes to fix. Especially before adding more and more new features…
April 8th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
in front of the contact in my list is shown the “ICQ-item” – normally.
green dot, brb-sign… but some contacts are listet without. for better understanding i made a screenshot http://test.janbecker-it.de/screenshot_trillianastra_build77.jpg
greetz
April 8th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
omg…please don’t blame me for bad writing
im tired
April 8th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
TheWickedone … that is a known bug, there are problems with MSN icons too.
barbos … if I recall correctly the development of the Jabber/GoogleTalk plugins recently changed which CS developer is working on them. I believe this is so they can get tied in with all the new IMcore stuff. This probably is the cause of the delays in either of those plugins getting any updates for a while, but is probably a good move in the end.
April 8th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
allright…thx for information…
April 8th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Jabber remains the same for me as well, blows trillian up as soon as it’s enabled.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
i have not been able to get msn to connect in 3 builds.. any ideas?
April 8th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Thanks for the info DiamondNRG!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
I think there is a HUGE memory leak. I noticed my system running slow after the 77 update. I looked at task manager and saw Trillian was using 1.2GB of RAM. Trillian had also crashed a couple times. I suspect this was related to the memory leak.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Auto update went perfect. Almost didn’t motice it and everything seems the same so far. All clients loaded fine. Haven’t tried out the chat rooms yet, but do like the listing of rooms that Yahoo has. Thanks
April 8th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
WOW this is pretty cool – everything works good so far!
Thanks for all the hard work! Nice build!!!
April 9th, 2008 at 12:34 am
Nice build, though I still have to run it as administrator for it to work properly.
April 9th, 2008 at 2:48 am
>.
April 9th, 2008 at 7:24 am
Thanks for the heads up about the bots in Yahoo Chat, makes perfect sense now to steer clear. Shame, really… thanks for the update.

The Bug with the tabs once you change from original to minimal still persists
April 9th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Since CS doesn’t has to release the builds every friday, the releases are more often =)
I like that=)
April 9th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
There is definately a memory leak. I’ve tracked it down to the Jabber plugin.
Anyone else using the Jabber plugin with build 77 seeing high memory usage?
April 9th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I used to LOVE the “Trillian Spam Challenge” plugin. It appears to not function with Astra and the “Plugin Web Site” at the bottom of the plugin’s page on its CS web page is invalid.
Since you guys mentioned all the bots on the Yahoo chat rooms, have you thought about adding a spam challenge functionality to Astra?? I think a lot of people would like it.
I know I would!
April 10th, 2008 at 3:31 am
I know this is not really a build related problem – but maybe anyone can give me a hint: Trillian Astra works fine for me. But when I try to login at http://www.trillianastra.com/ all I get is a “now loading” and a “Logging in” message – but nothing else. Any idea, why?
April 10th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
pmiller: The web version of astra has been down for a few weeks now. CS has made finishing and getting the desktop version into beta a top priority over all other versions of astra, so don’t be surprised if the web version isn’t turned on for another couple of months.
April 11th, 2008 at 4:33 am
that’s not true. the web version is up and runnig. you just have to use firefox 2. it doesn’t work with the ie at the moment. so go ahead and take a look
April 11th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I don’t know if others have this issue, but if so please vote for 5501 because it’s rather frustrating not being able to add any new contacts without logging out of Trillian Astra and firing up the old clients! If there is already another bug report (I searched and searched) please point me to the duplicate so I can vote for that one instead. It’s the only major issue I have with Astra at this point… but it’s rather large!
April 11th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Please hurry up and get this public! Those of us not in the private alpha are getting antsy and are starting to dabble with Pidgin and Digbsy..

xxaaqq, you don’t need to vote for bugs. It has no impact on the order they are fixed. Voting is for feature requests.
April 13th, 2008 at 7:38 am
Meh, how about focusing on fixing bugs instead of adding new useless features that cause even more bugs? During the last few months, using -and thereby testing- this piece of software became impossible, because more and more stuff broke.
April 13th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
xxaaqq -> this bug has already been reported. actully, it doesn’t looks to be a bug, bud feature is not fully implemented into this skin. for adding users to you contact list, use Cordonata skin (yes, yes, i don’t like thi skin too
), this way it works fine.
April 13th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I’ve been using Trillian for a long time, and saw that my file transfers when I’m downloading from others is too slow, like 2kbps. But when I’m uploading the file for someone the speed is rather normal. Can you please explain that to me?
April 14th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Mire, how about learning what alpha and beta cycles are for? Cool. Thanks.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:27 am
I loved the yahoo chatroom humor moment….so true it is. I think yahoo chat rooms, and it makes me want to douse myself in Lysol. Yuk. I’ll pass on testing out that feature on this build of Astra, thanks
April 16th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
hey guys, give us something new to test
April 17th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Ok, recently I have been having some weird problems with Trillian and I’ve never seen these problems since this update. Some of you may have the same problems but not know it, or it could just be me.
So every morning here at work, I launch Trillian Astra (Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google are what I use). I connect fine and on each network maybe 1-2 of my friends are online. On a typical day, theres usually 10-12 online in each group, so I just figured everyone was offline. Well at about 11 I received an email from someone asking me if I was online. Well I closed Trillian completely and reopened, reconnecting to all my networks. 10 seconds ago I had a total of maybe 5-6 people online, now 50 or so which is what I expected.
Well this same thing happens daily. This morning I logged on, saw a few of my friends online and an hour later, I closed it, reopened and reconnected, and voila — everyone was online. And by everyone I mean, 10-12 people on each network (Yahoo, MSN, AIM, Google).
Has anyone else experienced this? It’s so weird.
April 17th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
The same happens to me from time to time
April 17th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Yep, I’ve seen that happen also.
April 17th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
@Scream81 and KnowBNYC
Has this happened to you only since this most recent build like it has me?
April 17th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
no this has happened bevor to me
April 17th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
i think
April 17th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Hahaha yah thats the problem… This may have been going on for awhile but we never knew! I could have just assumed 2-3 people really were online. Hahaha oh man.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Joenas,
Thanks! That worked… never would have thought of it. It walks you through the whole process and “appears” to work but the contact doesn’t come online or appear in Offline… hope the *skin* gets fixed soon!
