Build 78: Google Talk Voice Chat and much, much more.

Trillian Astra Build 78: Google Talk Voice Chat and much, much more.

Build 78 is now available.

Point 1 Widget Info Cards: Social Widgets are even more useful with Info Cards. Move your mouse cursor over a miniaturized widget and it will show you extended information from the widget itself. It works for all widgets on the contact list and in chat windows, allowing you to get a much better idea of, say, what song your friend is listening to. It also helps you compact up your contact list if you don’t prefer to see the full version all the time.
Point 2 Full weather forecast (with data provided by weather.com): Widgets have been updated to be even more powerful. Besides using interactive graphics to display current conditions, our Weather widget can now also show barometer readings, “Feels Like” temperature and two days of weather forecasts in the Info Card. Furthermore, the full widget has direct links to forecast videos, radar and more.
Point 3 Google Voice support: The voice call implementation by Google is now supported in Trillian Astra. You can now talk to other Google Talk users!
Point 4 Initial Window Size, Position and Interiors: One of the original and most voted features, the ability to set the initial position and size of message windows has been implemented with a bang! The brand new interface requires no geekery of any sort (manually punching numbers!). Simply go to Message Windows Preferences and choose “Set Default Size, Positions and Interiors” under the Default Appearance group. Drag, drop, and resize the window to anywhere on the screen; you can even set how big the text boxes are or how transparent the window should be (through View button)! The feature also supports multiple monitors.
Point 5 Bonjour, Server-less IM! This wonderful way to instantly set up a local messaging network is now updated with a new core backend from Apple, as well as new codes to support Trillian Astra IMCore. You can now also add a Bonjour connection to any of your identities, not just the default identity! The renewed plugin sports a new name (not Rendezvous anymore) and a new look. If you haven’t discovered this nifty feature already, please check out our good olde Feature Tour.

    Thanks guys, nice work!!

  2. Gahgah Says:

looks incredible guys. thanks a lot for this one!!!

  3. Joenas Says:

please, i beg you on my knees, fix jabber plugin in next build :(

  4. SenseiC Says:

Yeah I’ll bend the other knee (either that or swing it upward) on the Jabber Client thing…

  5. jeylm Says:

    on enabling Boujour:
    —————————
    Trillian Error
    —————————
This is not a valid Trillian Plugin.
    —————————
    OK
    —————————

  6. sevenalive Says:

Thats all nice, but what about this bug:
Online Status/Connection section display settings do not save. I like it collapsed, but when i restart trillian its expanded again.

What about Yahoo and Aim A/V features? I have no contacts that use msn. They mostly use Aim, some use Yahoo. When are we going to get A/V for those?

  7. smw Says:

What’s wrong with Jabber? I wasn’t able to reproduce anything but did notice a few comments in the last blog.

Bonjour: You will need Bonjour for Windows to use the new plugin. We’re looking into ways to redistribute it – for now, you can grab it at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html

  8. jesusfreak Says:

Sad to report that trying to delete the Google Talk plugin crashes Trillian. But there is a lot of really nice work being done. Would love to be able to video chat across multiple services. It appears that right now you can only video chat with another ASTRA user, correct? Also, would love to be able to do a video chat room as iChat can do. Think that is a possibility some day?

  9. DiamondNRG Says:

sevenalive — Yahoo got audio. Video is still to come.

  10. globex Says:

Glad to see at least ’some’ progress with Audio/Video for other messenger services. I’m still waiting for the MSN video.

  11. jesusfreak Says:

Bonjour worked for me when I added a username under Identities. Just don’t have any other Trillian ASTRA users here to test this with unless it should work with Apple users?

  12. jesusfreak Says:

Like the Default Window Size and Positioning feature … way cool. Great job with that.

Wondering if you guys can make a all clear glass skin … like in the opening start up screen or based on the Windows Vista Aero theme color and transparency settings?

  13. Scream81 Says:

    @jesusfreak :
try the custom window: Windows Vista Glass

  14. bigminisachin1231 Says:

    @ jesusfreak

This has already been implemented (since build 75, I believe). However, you must be running a computer with Vista installed in order to use this feature.

p.s. It looks great! You’re doing great, CS.

  15. kabutar Says:

this sounds awesome! but i hope the devs will at least fix that horrific jabber/gtalk display name bug where the nicknames aren’t downloaded from the server and Trillian displays only person’s email address (and doesn’t save the nicknames when you exit either)… it’s been there 6 months or so now!

the only reason i mention it is coz realistically it’s a bit of a hindrance to efficiently using the gtalk client lol, even though the rest of it is great.

  16. agraham208 Says:

    I can haz chatz? w00t.

  17. jesusfreak Says:

You lost me. I went to Skins and chose Custom Windows, and it says “No custom windows found”.

  18. SlAoTkAiN Says:

just wondering if the bonjour client is fully operational? my laptop will see my desktop and when I IM the PC from the lappy, nothing comes up on the PC. Laptop can see the PC, PC can’t see the laptop. This would’ve been a nice feature if it had worked. perhaps it just needs a little more tweaking?

  19. sc0ttkclark Says:

Obsessive Compulsive Testers everywhere thank you for #4!!!

Reply to jesusfreak: Trillian >> Preferences >> Message Windows >> Default Appearance >> “Set Default Size, Positions and Interiors…”

    Nice new interface guys!

  20. neanjo78 Says:

Great job on the default size, positions, interiors CS…thanks!!!

  21. nayss Says:

    Hi @ all,

at first : thx for the update.
Had several problems after the update. The auto-update function seems NOT to use the same directory as used by installation (folder for files is selected manually at partition d:\, not in c:\ where my windows is located…). new installation fixed the moost problems, only one still doesn’t work:

Defualt Trillian Window: trillian.exe – Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because dnssd.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

    OK

    *********
    Trillian Error

This is not a valid Trillian Plugin.

    OK

….these messages I get, when I try to activate the BONJOUR 4.0.0.78 Plugin.

Anyone knows how to fix it ?

    Best Regards, nayss

  22. DiamondNRG Says:

nayss, you should read the other comments before posting. Then you would know to download “bonjour for windows” from the apple website.

jesusfreak, that custom window is something you have to download in the forums and install first. Then it will be there. I have no idea why nobody else understood your question right!

  23. nayss Says:

    @ DiamondNRG

    thx for the advice.
sry, usually i read all comments before, but this one i haven’t seen. after your comment i found it suddenly.

    best regards nayss

  24. agnostic-stigmata Says:

this build does not work at all for me…..i did an auto install and it crashes..so i uninstalled it then manually installed and it still crashes apon loading.

  25. agnostic-stigmata Says:

sry for my previous post..i figured out the situation….thanx C.S.

  26. jesusfreak Says:

Thanks DiamondNRG, Scream81 was kind enough to point me to the Aero Glass skin for Vista in the forums.

  27. Irontiger Says:

    Great job, thanks!
    testing now…. :)

  28. Holger Says:

Great new build, I really love it!

    Just one small issue:
Renaming an ICQ contact is not saved. Means, when I restart Trillian Astra the contact’s name is back to the original one stored on the ICQ servers. Is this an Astra Bug? With the old build it used to work.
    Thanks a lot.

  29. Stingbyte Says:

Nice build, mostly all working again, except one small issue, I can’t use the autologin on startup feature, then no contacts and connections are loaded. If I manually connect on startup by selecting the profile, it works fine.
Wonderful to see Bonjour aka Rendezvous back in Trillian (Rendezvous and IRC are are the plugins I use from old version).
    Thanks.

  30. arcaex Says:

Probably a dumb question (very late night) but how do I access these ‘info cards’ and ‘widgets’? I would like to test them.

Is it something inside Astra or a separate download?? TIA

  31. spideycoop Says:

Looks good but I have still never been able to have the contact window reload a widget on restart. I have deleted my cache folder that stores the widgets like someone advised but when I shut down Trillian and re-open the widget is no longer there. So it would be nice to enjoy all the great features of the widgets in this release but it is a real pain to have to add the widgets everytime I start Trillian. This has to be something that can be fixed. Thanks

  32. Alexandrus Says:

It gets buggier and crappier every new release, now it crashes every 5 minutes and the video is not working, people on Yahoo invite me to see their webcam but all I see is them changing status to view my webcam, but now option to even view the webcam, it’s stupid.

  33. Alexandrus Says:

And, still no option to display Yahoo nicknames instead of jut yahoo ID, and so on….

  34. Alexandrus Says:

No more yahoo file transfers :(

  35. Alexandrus Says:

And no Yahoo mail notification, not to forget.

  36. JordanW Says:

Ever since the last 2 ‘upgrades’ including this one, I’ve had major problems connecting to MSN

At least 95% of the time, it won’t connect with the oh so helpfull error 10054, or recently, Error 10060

I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, renamed/deleted C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Trillian so it makes a new one, but it still comes up the same

Haven’t installed any other programs, changed any settings, altered my network configuration in any way

Anyone know what those erors mean, and more importantly how to fix them? :(

    Thanks

  37. KnoxBNYC Says:

@Scream81: “Windows Vista Glass” what is it?

  38. mattfast1 Says:

I didn’t have to download Bonjour to use the plugin. I merely had Trillian auto-update, then activate the plugin and add a username. Never had any other reason to use Bonjour, so I didn’t manually install it. I’m wondering if Safari or iTunes may have included it…

  39. SDWolf Says:

Hmmm…. Yahoo is refusing to connect for me. Here’s what’s in the console when it insta-fails:

    [04/18/2008 - 07:30 PM] *** Reconnecting to YAHOO as “Shadow_D_Wolf_Esq”
[04/18/2008 - 07:30 PM] *** Error when authenticating with the Yahoo! login server: code 1236.
    [04/18/2008 - 07:30 PM] *** Disconnected.

I can’t adjust any settings for the Yahoo plugin. The Connection Settings and Privacy panels are blank, and the Miscellaneous panel just shows “Loading.” o.O

Also, still forced to run Trillian as Administrator for it to work properly. -.-

  40. Scream81 Says:

    @KnoxBNYC
Thats a custom Window in Vista style. Search in the Astra Forum for it, look really good :)

  41. KnoxBNYC Says:

    @Scream81
I know I’m going to regret saying this, but I/ve searched for it to no avail. It appears I need it spelled out to me. If you could, could you email me info? knoxbnyc@hotmail.com

  42. BryanX9X Says:

Just a Q but what is the point of being able to hide an alert if you can’t “un-hide” it?

  43. BryanX9X Says:

    @Knox – Try this link

    http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84955&highlight=Windows+Vista+Glass

  44. Brad I Says:

The twitter gadget isn’t working for me. But it hasn’t in any of the Astra builds. Am I doing something wrong?

    Otherwise, it’s a nice upgrade

  45. SenseiC Says:

Oooh… I think you’ve got the chat-view fixed! THANK YOU. (was getting tired of every time having to change the setting)

  46. SenseiC Says:

As for Jabber… I was referring to the ability to bookmark conference rooms. Last I knew (and checked) the Jabber plug-in was from 3 Oct. 2005. The ONLY reason I continue to use Exodus is because the Trillian plug-in did not provide bookmarking/saving of conference rooms. Maybe I’ve just missed something?

  47. DiamondNRG Says:

mattfast .. yes iTunes installed it without asking your permission. It is used to play media from other machines on yours. Apple does not believe in asking you permission to add other CRAP to your machine though. Safari probably does it too.

Sensei, the Jabber plugin in Astra is not from 2005. :P But no, it does not have conferences at all (yet).

BryanX … I believe to some clients they get notified if you deny a request. Hiding it means you will basically say no without ever giving them the response. This is useful if you don’t want the person to know you denied it and just want them to think you never got it.

  48. ddayman Says:

sounds nice… still wish I could get into the beta.

  49. asdfh Says:

When will you finally release the final Client? This fkin “Alpha” already goes on for years!

  50. DiamondNRG Says:

asdfh … that is how you make good FKIN software, of course.

  51. mrtv1 Says:

I’m still having the problem with Trillian remembering the location of a container? I like all my IM’s inside a “friends” container and other versions used to remember when the container was docked to the contacts list…but 76 and on seems to forget and open new windows undocked and at the top left of my screen…is this a problem for anyone else?

  52. BryanX9X Says:

Diamond – That all sounds well & good as a reason, but i think there is a flaw in that. The option to hide the alert only pops up (for me) on the choice to add or block said user. Not on the choice to accept or deny the friend request. So unless the client sends a message to the user saying that they have been blocked, then i still don’t see the point. You know?

  53. DiamondNRG Says:

Bryan … Sorry I mixed them up .. .the point on that one is that it may be someone you want to chat with but not not add to your list. So then you can just hide that panel and continue your chat.

  54. BryanX9X Says:

Diamond – That is what i figured, but like i said it seems to be flawed in the sense that you can’t un-hide the alert. Say you allow that user to add you to their list. But you don’t want to add them to your list, at all or just yet. They are still on probation so to speak. So in a while when their probation is up & you decide to add them to your list. That is no problem, no need to unhide the alert. But lets say you decide that you want to block them? There is no easy way to do so. You can’t just right click in the message window & say block this user. You would have to go to the preferences, of that client & add them to the ignore/block list.

That was sort of all i was trying to get at. To me it seemed flawed.

  55. chaosphoenix Says:

Just wondering. You know how aim allows you to open a blank message window and type in the SN? (so you dont have to add people to your list if you want to IM them) Has this feature been brought up for Trillian, or is there a specific reason they’ve decided against implementing this feature, or have they just not gotten to these types of things?

  56. DiamondNRG Says:

Bryan, that is not true. If I right click on a message window and pick Privacy .. it works just fine.

chaos … that feature has always been there. click the yellow aim icon and pick “Send a message…”

  57. pnkrkrgeo92 Says:

Hey, is there any possibility that the “current song” feature for your status is compatible with the J.River Music Jukebox? I know it isn’t now but is there a chance that it’ll be added to the list of supported media players? Or is there something I can do manually for it to retrieve the current song data from J.River?

  58. velvetgeisha Says:

I can’t log into the web site…it just sais :Logging in….:
Also I can’t get the newest build…and i tried to get the manual download from the email i got when i got accepted to alpha testing but it won’t let me do anything…

  59. pnkrkrgeo92 Says:

Are you sure you made sure you entered the correct authentication when you visited the beta page? Perhaps the servers are not as responsive and it would be just better to try a different time. I mean those are the only two possibilities I can think of that would deny you from downloading the latest build.

  60. neanjo78 Says:

velvetgeisha, if you are using an IE browser it doesn’t work. Use firefox and if your password is correct it should let you login to the website.

  61. lionhearted Says:

Anyone know, why the filetransfer slow? My friends use WLM, and he can’t send file, because it’s very slow. :(

  62. DiamondNRG Says:

velvetgeisha, use the correct username and password to download the new build from the link in your email, NOT YOUR ASTRA USERNAME.

Also you do not need to log into the web client to download builds, it does not work that way.

  63. LordLoki Says:

I just have ONE request — and then I would gladly permanently switch over to trillian. I do NOT understand why trillian refuses to implement this.

For **ALL** tabbed programs, the standard switch forward is ctrl-tab, and the standard switch backward is ctrl-shift-tab. Given that the order of the tabs switching is done by the most recent use order, it jumps around — which makes no logical sense as you are looking at the window (who remembers in what order they most recently talked to five contacts? come on….). It should advance like every other tabbed program.

And before anyone says “just use ctrl-pgup, ctrl-pgdown” — that is not the point. there at least ought to be a way to set the default behavior to ctrl-tab, ctrl-shift-tab. It is really annoying to hop between programs (like firefox, IE, etc.) with normal tab browsing, to trillian, with its random programming.

  64. Pak-Kei Mak Says:

LordLoki: The doors of Bugzilla are wide open for you to report your bugs and features. :) (Don’t worry, developers do not intentionally code random things to annoy you.)

DiamondNRG: Please try to direct commenters to the forums, instead of answering their questions here. Try not to type in all caps, and be as civil as in the forums. Also, please do not put the Cerulean Studios web site as the link of your user name, as it can be misleading. Thanks!

  65. DiamondNRG Says:

Pak-Kei, for dozens of builds I tried to direct people to the forums. They do not listen. But sure, I will try again.

I only capitalized key words in the sentence which is plenty within the rules. I do not ever type in all caps.

And the link is actually incorrect, I meant to put the link directly to the forums as yet another attempt to get people to go there to find there answers. But I will remove it.

  66. Pak-Kei Mak Says:

DiamondNRG: Words like “CRAP” are not “plenty within the rules”.

  67. GreenwoodKL Says:

After watching this site ocassionally for months, and signing up for the Alpha with no response – is there an anticipated release date yet?

  68. DiamondNRG Says:

I’m sorry, I will make sure not to capitalize “crap” in the future.

  69. bramscolnick Says:

I find that Trillian is VERY sluggish at times when chatting.. I find it chugs.. chokes.. then catches up.. and i need to retype…. i watch the processes.. and at times it rushes to the top.. takes all my CPU and then goes back down. Tried using Yahoo earlier.. no issues… in fact the only other hog I have is Outlook and that’s spuradic…. Trillian is consistently chugging….

  70. Assassin1020 Says:

Anyone else having issues connecting to MSN I status window say connecting disconnect then reconnect then disconnect again….? also I have the same isue as Bram trillian is eating up allot of my processes…

  71. Jake Says:

Yes, I’m having tons of connection problems myself. Within the last hour, MSN, YAHOO, AIM, and GOOGLE have all disconnected and reconnected about 40 times. This has occurred on 2 separate computers which are also on 2 separate internet connections. While this doesn’t mean that its 100% Trillian, it does narrow it down.

  72. predator2104 Says:

After months away I’m back :) I salute all Cerulean Studios and all people here.
Now let’s talk about a problem: Build 78 is good, but the add contact issue is not fixed, when I add a contact it only crashes the application.

  73. DiamondNRG Says:

predator, I believe it is only fixed on the default Cordonata skin, not Cobalt (yet).

  74. predator2104 Says:

No, I experienced problems with Cordonata and Cobalt skins, and the Block and unblock feature is not acting properly, sometime a person is already blocked I see the Block text appear instead of unblock. These are small details, globally the application is working fine.

  75. DiamondNRG Says:

I meant only adding contacts specifically is fixed on Cordonata. I was in no way implying that there were NO bugs that affected people using Cordonata.

  76. agnostic-stigmata Says:

File transfer rates are crazy slow for msn …….plz fix issue. ty

  77. godside Says:

Ever since this Build 78 came around I havent been able to login. I tried re-downloading at the link in my original email when I signed up as an alpha tester…doesnt go anywhere. Anybody got ideas to help get back on?

  78. Jake Says:

I already brought this up in the last release but I don’t think anyone read it.
It keeps happening to me no matter what computer/ISP I am using (I have 3 computers at home, one at work, and a laptop) and this happens on ALL of them:

Ok, recently I have been having some weird problems with Trillian and I’ve never seen these problems since this update. Some of you may have the same problems but not know it, or it could just be me.

So every morning here at work, I launch Trillian Astra (Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google are what I use). I connect fine and on each network maybe 1-2 of my friends are online. On a typical day, theres usually 10-12 online in each group, so I just figured everyone was offline. Well at about 11 I received an email from someone asking me if I was online. Well I closed Trillian completely and reopened, reconnecting to all my networks. 10 seconds ago I had a total of maybe 5-6 people online, now 50 or so which is what I expected.

Well this same thing happens daily. This morning I logged on, saw a few of my friends online and an hour later, I closed it, reopened and reconnected, and voila — everyone was online. And by everyone I mean, 10-12 people on each network (Yahoo, MSN, AIM, Google).

It’s getting quite annoying. Recently I’ll be talking to someone and then they don’t respond for over an hour. I close Trillian and re-open it, and they tell me that it says I signed off hours earlier meaning they didn’t receive any of my messages. Yet ASTRA nor any service show me as having disconnected…. Something is wrong.

  79. BryanX9X Says:

@Jake – I agree, there is a problem with the connections & the statuses. I have also been noticing that MSN just keeps disconnecting over & over. But it has only been happening this past week. So i am not sure what is going on, but hopefully if a new release is sent out today it will clear up these issues.

  80. shawnmos Says:

Any idea when the next build is coming out? Trillian has been unable to connect to the Astra network all morning.

  81. Jake Says:

@BryanX9X — But thats what I’m trying to say. Whenever there was a problem, Trillian never said I was disconnected or anything… I just realized that there were more people online that Trillian was showing, so now each time I fire up Trillian, I wait 10 minutes then close it and re-open it.

You may think it has just been this week but to be honest I think it’s been going on awhile and you no one realized it. Like I said, last night i was talking with 2 people for about 30 minutes each. All of the sudden both stopped replying. I continued gabbing and after about 2 hours not hearing from either of them, I closed Trillian and re-opened. Both said “where did you go?” Turns out they say me as having become disconnected for that 2 hour timespan whereas Trillian never showed anything as being disconnected.

  82. Akamei Says:

I always have to redownload trillianastra whenever I turn my computer on or if I exit out of trillian astra and it is becoming extremely annoying! Do you guys know when this problem will be fixed?

  83. BryanX9X Says:

@Jake – Did you report it in Bugzilla?

  84. DiamondNRG Says:

Akamei, why do you have to redownload it? Are you installing it without admin priv?

  85. blueink Says:

So CS how is build 79 coming along? Its been more than two weeks since we have had something new to test and in the meantime I keep coming across how Digsby keeps finding out how to integrate new features like Facebook. Oh well, nothing I can do anyway but wait.

  86. chaosphoenix Says:

    @Diamond
—chaos … that feature has always been there. click the yellow aim icon and pick “Send a message…”
wow i totally didnt know that was there x.x idiot me.

while i was using astra today, i was pondering, would it be possible for them to script it so that you could define your own emoticons? eg, :) and :-) both map to a smiley face, as does =], and maybe a weirdo smiley face you made of your own, because I know that many people all have their different weird ways of doing faces, and if its missing a dash or whatnot, it doesnt parse it as an emoticon. Just a suggestion.

  87. chaosphoenix Says:

the heck? ok so in place of the smileys, the first was : ) and the second was : – ) (seperated with spaces so it doesnt render as a graphic)

  88. predator2104 Says:

No Build since two weeks? Is the first beta close to be finished? We’re still waiting :)

  89. blueink Says:

Pred: As much as I would love to see a beta soon, there is no way they are working on one now. They still haven’t even given video to msn or aim. Also, given the some of the features other IM clients have, CS may need to spend extra time after a/v is finished trying to play some catch up. All in all, it’s starting to look like we might not see beta until July or even August, which is consistently the moot point in this whole development process.

  90. predator2104 Says:

True true, I don’t know much about programming, but is it normal for an IM client to take so long? Well, that reminds me of artists (Painters more like) they take their time and they work only if they want to, or have the inspiration of the actual moment. That’s reallyyyyy cooool! But in this case, they’re probably being paid by investors so they have to speed up a little more the work, no?

  91. blueink Says:

While I am not expert either, in general I have seen other messengers like yahoo, msn, and aim releasing new versions of their clients perhaps almost every year. I understand astra is almost a complete overhaul from v3, almost like comparing windows vista to xp, and therefore it might take longer. But, It’s been already two years, if not more, since they started writing the first code for Astra and the final build may not even come until the end of the year. So, this is definitely pushing past the typical development cycles.

Based on their business model, CS seems to make most of their money through the subscriptions that pro users pay annually. Perhaps, they pitch in a little money of their own also. But, I don’t see more than one or two minority investors lining up at their door. If I was an investor, I would certainly be frustrated at how long this is taking and would have been willing to pitch in extra money to hire more than just a team of 5-6 people they have now to speed up the development process. Like I mentioned in one of my posts earlier, digsby and meebo are leaping ahead on the basic functionality and feature integration. By the time, astra is even done, we are playing catch up. The web client and mac version of astra is still waiting to be finished and who knows where the other IMs will be by then.

  92. randomlize Says:

idk why but the sound is like the default beep for me…

  93. predator2104 Says:

I’ve been using Yahoo and MSN for years, but since I discovered the Astra I’m stuck on it. What I like the most is the design (Cordonata), it’s really unique and it’s far away from the traditional Ims. Also the smart plugins (I love Trillytune, I use the radio streams and playlists…). but as one have already said it on CS forum, it’s not easy to build a plugin or a skin for astra, so they have to think about it. I’m nearly sure that if CS will make the skin and plugins development easier that will bring’em more users, more clients and so more money. So CS go on, make the job easier for us and we will help you :)

  94. Trillian Astra Build 78 and Wine 0.9.61 at kyleabaker.com Says:

[...] installed Trillian Astra Build 78 (I’m an alpha tester as well) via Wine 0.9.61 today and got a couple of errors. I’m using [...]

  95. DiamondNRG Says:

I don’t believe CS uses any “investors”. They have a lot of pro users.

Also it takes this long when you have 2 main developers not 50+ like MSN and Yahoo do.

  96. Jake Says:

CS’ Trillian Astra has turned into what Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” album has as well. Something that will never be complete and therefore not released. But hey, I’m pretty sure CS has heard every complaint regarding how long it has taken to get Astra this far. Hopefully my now 2 year old son will be able to use it when he’s 20. But I doubt it.

  97. Martix Says:

All this stuff you say gets repeated everytime, CS doesn’t release new builds after about 1,5 weeks.
And when a new build gets released everybody says “woow well made, CS…. great”

I think they’re tired of hearing it.
Everybody knows that they are a bit slow.
And i guess even CS knows ;)

So just read the last entries of the builds before and feel happy that somebody thinks like you!

    Sorry… must be said!

  98. DiamondNRG Says:

Jake … I’m pretty sure Astra won’t be around 18 years from now either.

  99. predator2104 Says:

Hey guys, relax! No one is taking on CS, we simply see that Astra do has a great potential, and we’re impatient to see the final release that’s all! We all support CS, and if they don’t have enough coders to work on the project, so they may turn it’s development like Linux, and everybody will help (it’s a simple suggestion). Personally I can do any graphical work, others may help in their fields too. Just say “how”

    Peace Dudes

  100. jmkinny Says:

Yes, we are impatient. I like Trillian alot, however, I am primarily on my Mac and dieing for the Mac version to come out, or even a chance to become a tester. I have been signed up pretty much since the Mac version was announced. There was a comment a few builds ago that CS will do more work on the Mac version, once the video beta on the PC version was done, I hope that’s still true.

With that said, I do like all the builds, tho can’t test, everything looks great. It’s just that waiting for more testers and/or release that is driving me (and others, i’m sure) crazy.

  101. Xaos Says:

My trillian astra keeps eating 65-80% CPU usage, wtf? It wasnt doing this before, any ideas?

  102. DiamondNRG Says:

Xaos, try disabling plugins to see which one is the cause. Either way it is probably just a bug in the latest build. Did you change anything else?

  103. Xaos Says:

Nah it wasnt a plugin, but I figured it out. One of my friends on AIM has an animated .gif buddy icon, so I right clicked>options>buddy icon>clear and it solved the problem. Crazy.

  104. Trillian Astra Build 78 and Digsby Build 28 in CrossOver 6.2 at kyleabaker.com Says:

[...] I came across a program called CrossOver and decided to give it a trial run. The test cases were Trillian Astra Build 78 and Digsby Build 28. I’ll go a bit into detail on the whole experiment with both test cases [...]

  105. Jake Says:

Well, as indicated earlier, I continue to have the same ongoing “invisible disconnect” problems. I thought I was chatting with my wife via MSN for about 20 minutes, only to have her not respond. Well she called and asked why I was offline. I looked at trillian and it showed me as being online. This is becoming very annoying.

Is ANYONE sending messages to their friends and their friends aren’t responding? If so, tell me because I’m confident this isn’t just me having the problem as this occurs both here at work and at home. You might just think people are AFK when they really aren’t. Try closing trillian and reopening and see if they respond.

    Bug submitted #: 5676

  106. Crash Says:

    @Jake:

I may be experiencing a similar issue, though I haven’t been able to confirm it yet.

One of buddies on MSN (the one I talk to the most) constantly tells me that I’m listed as offline. During these times we can usually still chat as long as I message him first, but there are times when I wonder if he’s receiving my messages.

He’s the only one of my MSN contacts that’s mentioned this.MSN is not my primary IM network, so it’s hard to know if it happens with anyone else.

  107. PhoenixHawke Says:

3 weeks!! :) This is torture! haha. When do we get a new release?

  108. Jake Says:

    @Crash:

Well try this. Next time it happens, close Trillian and re-open it and see if suddenly a bunch of new contacts appear online. If so, then you know there was a problem. It happens at complete random times across all IM systems. I’ll be talking to my find on AIM with no problems… then he stops responding but I continue. After I close and restart Trillian he asked where I went because it showed me as offline.

I’ve already submitted a bug report. thank you for speaking up about having the same problem. Thats the hard part. I know its happening to others they just don’t realize it! Trillian never disconnects or says its disconnected BUT IT HAS.

  109. agraham208 Says:

You guys didn’t forget about us, did ya?

  110. DiamondNRG Says:

agraham208 … they are hard at work as usual. They are trying to get a lot of stuff fixed before they release another build. Builds are pointless unless they actually fix things first ;)

  111. BryanX9X Says:

But . . . but, i need my build fix. I don’t know if i can handle going another week without a build. I don’t care if it doesn’t fix anything, it will just give me something to complain about in the following week. I’m running out of things to complain about, i just can’t handle it any more. I need a fix!! Come on just a little taste? PLEASE! Just a little something to hold me over for a little while.

    Ha Ha Ha

    Sorry Diamond, i had to!

  112. DiamondNRG Says:

    Nice Bryan, nice.

My guess is we will see a build on Thursday.

  113. happypete Says:

I need a good document on how to scrub whatever Vista-unfriendly thing one or more earlier builds have left on my system. Now unless I run Trillian as administrator, it just plain won’t work. Whatever broke has “infected” the web client, too.

  114. burp15 Says:

Wow, a whole month without a build! I’m not complaining, it’s just that I think this is the longest they’ve ever gone without a build. I’m personally excited that it’s been so long, it might mean some big changes!

  115. DiamondNRG Says:

burp15 … There is a rumor it can now replace your coffee-maker and your wife too!!!

  116. BryanX9X Says:

Diamond – They can’t send a build out on thursday! That would totally throw off my whole state of zen. Talk about chaos theory a muck! That one thing would throw my OCD into spasms, which would then kick off my anal tendencies, which would then lead to an increase in the stress level, which would lead to the rise of anger (& you wouldn’t like me when i’m angry), then that anger would cause me to lash out at those around me, which would then start the chaos theory a muck in their lives, which would cause some of them to react negatively to my lashing out at them, which would just piss me off & i might have to retaliate & possibly resort to physical means of expressing my frustration, which would result in blood, lots of blood, which would cause a big commotion & someone would call the cops, who would call the press before they came to the scene, which would result in them opening fire, causing my more than likely death.

So . . . yeah lets have them hold off until friday plz. =)

  117. Xaos Says:

BryanX9X – hate to blow your mind, but the last 2 builds have been released on a Thursday, although its not looking like we’ll get one today…but just in case better get out your rubber gloves and bleach b/c you’re going to be cleaning up a lot of blood.

  118. Xaos Says:

Oops excuse me, the one before this one was on a Tuesday.

  119. SenseiC Says:

Hehehe… Don’t know whether to be happy or sad. My employer has just announced that we’re going to STOP using Jabber (not a single tear is shed from me) and going TO Microsoft Office Communicator. Sigh. Needless to say… I don’t see that as being supported anytime soon.

  120. BryanX9X Says:

@Xaos – It seems that the next time i write a message like this i will have to leave you a caption at the bottom letting you know that the message is filled with sarcasm & that it was just a joke.

Oh but then again you could come back & say that you knew all of that. & that you were just trying to be funny as well.

Either way there is no need for rubber gloves or bleach. Bleach does not clean up the traces of blood. You will have to be a little more clever than just bleach. Maybe some maggots, or leeches? HA HA HA HA

Well have a great one! As you are correct, the crisis is over. ;)

  121. DiamondNRG Says:

Was just trying to get you fired up Bryan, and you fell for it hard!

  122. BryanX9X Says:

Hey i like to play along, what can i tell ya?

  123. Sonal Sinha Says:

Does the same thing is applied in build 118 because i can’t find any

  124. dpezel09 Says:

    Hello,

I downloaded the free version of Trillian, but seem to be unable to get googletalk users loaded into my contacts. I don’t have to have a googletalk account to load them into Trillian right? (ie, i don’t want to add multiple IMs just so i can speak to those w/ different platforms etc.)

Can anyone help? Is this a snag when using the free version possibly?
    thx
    D

  125. pir8grrl Says:

So I guess invisibility does not work in Google Talk? There was an option in Trillian Astra to go on invisible mode, but after taking a nap, I come back to find my sister messaging me. It turns out I wasn’t on invisible mode.

  126. KirstenToh Says:

Cant get Trillan Astra to work for Googletalk?

    can anyone help?

  127. Jan Says:

Once a contact logs into gmail, they show up as online and after they disconnect, Trillian still shows them as online. A friend of mine always seemed to be online when he wasn’t, so I started comparing it to the chat client on Gmail. Gmail would show them as offline, but Trillian would still show them as online. I have two gmail accounts, so I logged into one, and logged out. Trillian still showed me as online for at least 30 minutes after I had logged out!

  128. PJB Says:

I am running Trillian 4.2 on Windows 7. Earlier this week Google Talk started connecting and disconnecting:

    [22:22] *** Reconnecting to GOOGLE as “email.address@gmail.com”.
    [22:22] *** TLS established using DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (TLSv1/SSLv3).

[22:22] *** You have successfully connected to Google Talk.
[22:22] *** You are connected to a “Google Talk” server.

After my connections load, I get the following:

[22:23] *** You have been disconnected.
    [22:23] *** Attempting to reconnect in 45 seconds…

I have roughly 25 Google Talk contacts. I also have AIM, Yahoo, MSN running which stay connected. I probably have 100 contacts across my other IM tools.
