Trillian for Windows 4.1 Build 13.
Build 13 is now available to early access alpha testers, fixing additional bugs. Reminder: Trillian 4.1 is not currently auto-updating itself – testers should download the new build by hand and manually update until further notice. Thanks!

Looks good, I’ll check it out asap. Thanks a lot, CS!
October 16th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
yay, thanks!
October 16th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Is video chat for AIM & MSN on the list for 4.1?
October 16th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
I seem to have a recurring issue on the download page, where only about half of the file downloads, and then suddenly decides it’s done.
I downloaded the previous build twice, and had to try five times with this build to get the full file.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Crashes when rightclicking into empty area on contact list…
October 16th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
Thanks for build 13, seems to be working fine.
Am i missing something here though ? How do you mark mail read and so on ? I have astra set to check my hotmail and yahoo mail (are these 2 unsupported for that feature) and i see no options besides hide and view inbox.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
@agnostic-stigmata, right click on the mail you wants to mark as read. btw all the mail are not “unread” anymore, good job!
October 16th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
great job again!
October 16th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
@ SpecialKey
That does not work for me.
October 17th, 2009 at 7:16 am
Can you possibly put the download link in each post as it makes it easier to download the latest version rather than having to look through the past items. Thanks
October 17th, 2009 at 7:20 am
Looks good so far.
October 17th, 2009 at 8:16 am
@agnostic-stigmata, works here…
October 17th, 2009 at 8:45 am
My contact list is empty, and clicking onto empty space crashes Astra.
October 17th, 2009 at 8:51 am
Now, the wall/activity feed from Facebook is great.
But with both contact list, twitter news, and Facebook news the list is to long.
Even with smallest list size you have to scroll to see the news.
How about an option to have several columns?
Then we could have contacts in one, twitter news next to that, and Facebook next to that?
October 17th, 2009 at 10:43 am
NightFright: Make sure your “My Contact” section isn’t minimized. I’m encountering a bug where that section gets minimized every time I load Trillian.

October 17th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Anyone else having problems getting Google Talk to connect lately ?
October 17th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Indeed, the contact list returns after you click on the small symbol in the right corner of the section header. However, the crash bug still remains (when clicking into empty list space).
October 17th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Right click crashes here too… I don’t actually understand how a bug this big doesn’t get seen right away? I don’t think I can even use this build without being able to right click and I have NEVER not used a current build.
October 17th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Hmm I to have the right click = crash thing, but its not every time. More like.. 1 time out of 6 for me.
Other then that good job with the build.
October 17th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Alright, so my biggest problem with this build is that Facebook WILL NOT STAY CONNECTED. It’s disconnecting every few minutes, getting to be immensely irritating
October 17th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Yup, I just shut facebook off, its not usable for this build
October 18th, 2009 at 8:43 am
Facebook working great here though I do have the right-click crash thingy. Also I still have no sound notification of incoming emails.
Namaste
October 18th, 2009 at 11:52 am
why contact list is not transparented???
October 18th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
every time i start Trillian i have to recreate all my connections.
October 18th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Awesome. Looks great.
October 18th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
I’m having much better look since redownloading and reinstalling this build! No problems this second time around.
@Andrew — Transparency is decided by you in the advanced options menu
October 18th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
how to download this new build? Please show me the method. Thanks!
October 19th, 2009 at 1:57 am
ok I fixed the google talk issue.
)
However Like many I am also getting the right click crash on empty space. Bummer.
October 19th, 2009 at 2:47 am
@James Dasher – thanks, but contact list not transparent like in 4.0.
October 19th, 2009 at 11:31 am
@Matei … you go to http://www.trillian.im/labs/
October 19th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Ugh I hate to bring this up but it seems when disconnecting from services trillian crashes with this build.
October 19th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I spoke to soon, Facebook is being ridiculous again disconnects every few minutes, can’t you just program it to auto reconnect, ugh, gets frustrating!!!
October 19th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
Yep, right click on empty space crashes Astra.
October 19th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
The right click problem exists for me as well…
October 19th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
saw a mention that persistant chat room support was coming in 4.1 (which i just installed). did this actually make it into 4.1? (having to manually log into a group chat room is a pain)
October 19th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I’m seeing the same issues with facebook – it disconnects often.
Also seeing it with Google Talk, but not as frequently.
October 20th, 2009 at 4:07 am
DiamondNRG: i hope, that trillian doesnt become not usable for my computer
, this is the worst build…
October 20th, 2009 at 6:19 am
Another solid looking build aside from a few crashes. =) I’ll still be waiting for my aim direct connect for images though. =D
October 20th, 2009 at 8:37 am
Im getting lots of skype spam with this build, trillian opens like 15 skype processes after it starts, randomly. Apart from that everything works fine from what i can see.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:32 am
@agnostic-stigmata: Connection-managed e-mail accounts, like the one the MSN plugin puts in My Mail, don’t always have all the options that the MAIL plugin’s accounts do. There isn’t a way, in MSN at least, for the client to mark mail as read, so there’s not an option to do that. I’d imagine the same is true for Yahoo.
October 20th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
guys, does anybody know where i can get the mail.ru agent plug in for the trillian??
thanks in advance
October 20th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
FYI for people with FB problems This FB problem has existed before, most recently in build 12. Chat is pretty stable, however, once FB disconnects, it disconnects you from both feeds and chat. You can manually reconnect just chat and it will stay connected, while the feeds will remain disconnected.
October 20th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
@TwelveBaud
I got it figured out, had to change some settings. Yahoo does not have a “Mark as Read” option but msn does.
October 21st, 2009 at 10:22 am
Also gmail doesnt have email options. Only hotmail and pop3 has. I think
October 21st, 2009 at 10:29 am
When are you going to add back in the ability to ‘hide’ a chat window. I hate leaving open IRC channels in my taskbar. I wish I could just hide them like I used to be able to do with Trillian 3.x
October 21st, 2009 at 11:30 am
A workaround for the service disconnect crash is, have your service not automatically connect at startup and manual connect them. This way if you need to disconnect them later trillian won’t crash on you.
This has worked for me on twitter so far, …….(I haven’t checked any other services with this workaround YET)
October 21st, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Still having twitter crash issues. Kinda sad since that seems to be a primary value add to 4.1. Tried Xavier’s fix but that did not work, whenever twitter loads, trillian crashes.

Yes, I was having issues with Facebook disconnecting itself as well as repeat updates. Glad to know that this has been fixed.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:19 pm
R Mezger , keep trying bud, you should be able to get it eventually.
October 22nd, 2009 at 6:27 pm
@Xavier: hah, I suppose that’s why it’s an alpha! Worst case scenario I could just go back to 4.0, but I currently love being able to move the notification windows, bottom right always seemed to be covering up stuff in my apps.
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:55 am
/me like very much!
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:18 am
I’m also running into the same Skype issue where it fires up a dozen Skype processes. Trillian appears to be connected to Skype just fine. I have to quit each Skype process and it doesn’t appear to impact Trillian. I’ve also noticed sporadic connectivity on Facebook Chat similar to the 4.0 product. Once it loses that chat connection I can’t always seem to get it back w/o a reboot.
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:23 am
Don’t know if this was in 4.0 but I love the notification preferences option to select between monitor 1/2 on the notification windows. Haven’t test that yet to see what happens when I disconnect from the docking station and only have 1 monitor.
Suggestion – I typically have the trillian window docked along the side of the screen when I have my 2 monitors. It would be nice if it would allow the notifications to appear over that window so that it doesn’t cover up any of my other stuff. That would give me a section of the screen just for trillian. The positioning currently moves it over so it doesn’t cover trillian as if it’s not part of the screen.
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:30 pm
FYI, build 14 is now available. FB problems look the same though …
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:55 pm
I have no issues with Facebook in build 14 (I didn’t in build 13 either though). Can you be more specific Tal?
November 1st, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Im using the latest build (trillian astra 4, 118) and it keeps disconnecting from googlechat every 10 seconds or less!
I think I will look for a better more stable program out there that can connect to all my email/chat as it seems nothing is getting better with each build.. although admittedly it could well be yahoo/ms/google et al changing how they connect, so trillian may never be able to release a build that will work for a long period of time without having to update it and cross their finger that it works for at least one week with ALL available services!
