Trillian for Windows 4.1 Build 14.
Build 14 is now available to early access alpha testers via Cerulean Labs, fixing additional bugs. Reminder: Trillian 4.1 is not currently auto-updating itself – testers should download the new build by hand and manually update until further notice. Thanks!

Wow you guys have been busy, all those bugfixes. I’ll grab it right away, thank you very much! Have a great weekend.

Not to complain, but I noticed on build 13 and 14, even if I unclicked “Install the Ask toolbar”, it still attempted to download and install.
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:16 am
Thanks for all the hard work, as usual.
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:22 am
nice one…looking forward to testing on Win7
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:26 am
Is anyone else getting a “this setup file does not appear to be valid” error?
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:30 am
thanks for new build!
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:31 am
@Joseph: It shouldn’t do that. Are you sure you are unchecking the correct box?
October 23rd, 2009 at 11:01 am
Any news on the MAC Client? Windows is nice, but there are many who just don’t have it. (and the 30 day trial is wasted because I just had access to a Win PC 1 day -.- )

Nice build. First download was corrupt though, so yeah, some CRC check code would be nice indeed Scott!
Also, perhaps the ask toolbar thing should not be asking us on every upgrade? Or is that only due to the manual method and the auto-update will not have this once you turn it on?

Thanks guys
The Friday starts making me happier then ever

Sadly twitter functionality remains elusive.

Glad to see a steady pace of development. Keep up the good work!

Please be so kind and drop ask.com!
I don’t need it! I don’t want to be asked about this piece of software.
After all, I’m a registered member, I have put my money on Trillian and I don’t want to be asked about this!
Please! Who needs ask.com can install it by himself!
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Can you please fix the mail notification for hotmail, googlemail and facebook. Still no sounds.
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:05 pm
@ drabisan
Ask.com helps C.S. with revenue and it is very simple to uncheck 2 spots where it asks if you want to install it. Besides that, after astra 4.1.x goes out of alpha into beta it should start doing auto-updates and at that point you will not have to worry about it unless you manually install it. I do not like the fact that it is in the installer either but i do understand why it is there and it only takes a second to uncheck the 2 spots during a manual install.
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:05 pm
@kwk Yeah, I just did it when I installed Windows 7 and it still did it.
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 pm
I had to download the exe about 20 times before I got a non-corrupted file. Kept on getting server issues. Tried both IE and FF, and same thing. This isn’t the first time I’ve had it happen either.
Need to fix the download server.
Other than that, looks like a lot of improvements in this build.
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:21 pm
@ Joseph
I too am using Win7 but i am not having that same issue. Are you unchecking BOTH boxes for the ask toolbar ?
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:53 pm
I have Windows 7 on 4 machines that have Astra on them, and none of them have ever installed ask when I unchecked the boxes.

Got the new build thanks for the active development, however PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, can you work on the stability of the FB connection, it is still horrible, FB has become a primary mode of communication for me, and it gets very frustrating when it disconnects every few minutes.
October 23rd, 2009 at 6:56 pm
@James, you do realize most of that is Facebook’s fault right? They have been working on trying to get it to hold better for all of 4.1 … and at least here the problem has been 99% taken care of since build 13.
October 24th, 2009 at 4:32 am
u dissapointed me with build 13, dont do that again!!!
October 24th, 2009 at 5:55 am
The Facebook disconnection is annoying especially if you dont see it happen as you cant tell whether you’ve been disconnected or no one is online unless you check the connection. It would be useful if Astra tried to reconnect like it does with MSN, or at least put up a message saying that Facebook chat is disconnected.

Awesome job on the fixes! Yey! My contact list starts up in the right order of the sections! TT2 is on top and updating right. Thank you. May have discovered a new “bug”… the system tray icon is not updating right. For example, I was online, but both globes are “off” in the system tray icon indicator. Anyone else?
October 24th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Shenarah … I get notified whenever Facebook disconnects, just like any other IM service.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Contact list again is not transparent, it is not visible what to be under it as in 4.0
(Windows 7 x86 7600 Enterprise)
October 25th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
P.S. “Use alfa-blending…” checked
October 25th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Andrew using this build full transparency for me including the contact list area
October 25th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
@DiamondNRG – Sure it’s FB to a point but there are other companies who are interfacing with FB who aren’t having these problems to this degree, so at least an increased level of stability is possible. I love Trillian and have used it for YEARS, it’s just got a point where while I still use IM FB has become a huge point of communication for me.
I still wonder if it would be possible to build in an “auto reconnect” if you have so many problems keeping it connected, just make it auto reconnect?
October 26th, 2009 at 5:33 am
coming trillian for maemo for nokia n900?
October 26th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
I still receive a crash at startup (back to build 12)
October 26th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
I too am having the issue where FB disconnects all the time without notification. I happen to glance at the trillian systray icon to notice only one globe is on, and FB had disconnected. Can’t Trillian just autoconnect whenever that happens?
October 26th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
@James & mariox … Yes, it seems build 14 is back to the disconnecting FB all the time.
I do agree an auto-reconnect option should exist for ALL mediums as well. I should check to see if that is in bugzilla.
October 26th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
FB constantly disconnecting for me as well, which is no bueno since that’s actually the driving force for me using Astra. It stayed connected in 4.0, so I really am not buying the “it’s a problem on FB’s end” line, sorry. Hopefully get a fix for it soon?
. All things being equal, Astra has me totally recommitted to Trillian products after about a one year hiatus from 3.x. Keep it up!
October 27th, 2009 at 2:43 am
msn not working people can not send message to me.
October 27th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
X.Static … not everyone has the same problem. Most people had MORE FB problems with 4.0 than 4.1. If 4.0 works better for you, then use that until the bug is resolved in 4.1 (again).
