Trillian for Windows 4.0 Build 119.
Addressing a recent change in the Facebook chat protocol, we’ve started to roll out Trillian 4.0 Build 119. Nothing else has changed since Build 118, so if you don’t use Facebook Chat you don’t need to upgrade right away. The upcoming build of 4.1, Build 16, will also contain the fix.

@pappnase: 119 is rolling out now but is done in a staggered fashion – you should get an update in the next few days. If you want to download it by hand, grab it at http://cerulean.cachenetworks.com/trillian-v4.0.0.119.exe

This update broke my Astra. I keep getting:
*** TLS established using AES256-SHA (TLSv1/SSLv3).
*** Your version of Trillian is no longer allowed to connect.
*** You have been disconnected.

ICQ is showing me online even though I have it set to log in invisible. Trillian is telling me I’m offline but I’m not. What is up with this?

@Rich, they said in the comments to their last post that it’ll likely be 4.2. It’s a big undertaking and they didn’t want to hold up 4.1 with it. They’re definitely working on it, but it’ll be a little while yet.

@john moore, apparently it is changing the ? into %3f, just replace it in the URL if you need to access one before they get it fixed.

Guys, you’re killing me here! ^^ … What about the huge ICQ group conversation bug, which is over due? You know,… with the ICQ# being shown instead of the nick names (also the file receive-folders are labelled with the ICQ# ….)

Hmm Update went through but now I have nobody left on my contact list, whether online or offline. Also changing the color for the skin doesn’t work anymore.

I get an error on this update. It downloads the update to 100% before then saying, “Error while downloading update.” How can I fix this?

Hey thanks Trillian — that was a great update notice! I really REALLY appreciate the wording: “Optional Update”. Makes a whole world of difference knowing that this update did not apply to me (a non-facebook user). Thanks again!

1. force me to log all of my credentials with an account at your site
2. don’t seem to honor the option to not notify me of updates….

I thought that one of the reasons to upgrade to the paid version of Trillian was that it would allow for the use of a webcam. I can’t find it. Could someone please let me know how to be able to use my webcam in Trillian. I have no problem at all using it in Google Talk directly through my gmail. Any ideas?

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but anyone using the 4.1 beta beware…4.0 build 119 shows up as an update, when it would actually be a downgrade. Don’t do it!

@pavan: you can create the account one of two ways – either by creating a new connection under your “my contacts” identity or by creating a new identity, i.e. “aol.” enter in just your screen name and password. it’s not necessary to enter @aol.com or @aim.com. click on the box to “automatically connect to this account at startup” then click on the “connect” button. it should get you on. hope this helps.

@Judy: Webcam is available regardless of if you’re using the free or Pro version. The only webcam-related features which are Pro-only are taking screencaps of video chat, full-screen video, and real-time video filters.
That said, the only currently supported services for Trillian’s webcam are the Astra medium and Yahoo! Messenger. Webcam over gTalk is not currently supported.
@julien: It’s not an ad banner. It’s the Knowledge Bar. To deactivate, go to Preferences> Chat> Instant Lookup, and uncheck “show the following feeds within message windows,” or delete all the feeds displayed there.

Just downloaded 4.0 build 119 after prompting. After the restart, tells me that it’s offline. I have been unable to reconnect. Even after PC reboot.

It does not seem to be saving my preferences to use facebook chat (Connection Manager> Facebook> Settings> Miscellanous> Check off “Connect to Facebook Chat” under Experimental Chat Support.). Each time I go back into that window, all of my signon information is blank and the box to connect is unchecked. Am I missing a “save” button somewhere that I just dont seem to see???

i’m using 4.0 build 119…..but I see 4.1 build 15
what is the difference….and which should i be using??

Think of it like Mozilla Branch / Trunk builds.
Branch is stable ( Thats 4.0 (”Then Build Numbers Here”) )
Trunk has beta (new) features ( Thats 4.1 (”Then Build Numbers Here”) )

@Xavier… that feature has not been added before. What exactly does it do?
@Nanoburn…. 4.0 is not beta, it is FINAL. 4.1 is the new version that is being worked on to add features. It just now reached beta stage. If you want new features and can handle a few bugs here and there, then upgrade to 4.1. If you freak out about a bug, do not.

Hmz…download the newer version, tried to install it but first get a blank red window, no text, just a box to enter where it needs to install it to. There is a browse button though.
When I choose a place to install it and go for it it tells me:
Trillian: invalid setup file
The setup file does not appear to be valid, please re-download.

GEoDLeto .. um it means your download is corrupted and you should redownload it fresh (just like it said).
