Trillian for iPhone 1.1 Build 1.

A new version of Trillian for iPhone is being sent out to beta testers today, and all existing beta testers should be receiving an email from us with details. We hope to have the new version ready for submission to the App Store in the coming weeks, but it has not been submitted yet! After listening carefully to user feedback since the launch of 1.0, we’ve included some exciting new features in 1.1:
- Landscape mode.
- Facebook chat.
- 7 day signout.
- Many new contact list options: sorting, offline contacts, new view modes, and more!
- Various enhancements to the contact information screen.
- Tidying up the message window controls for improved usability.
- Pulling through more options from our desktop app, including contact privacy and per-connection settings (including hostname/port tweaks for XMPP).
- Additional bugfixes and smaller usability enhancements.
Feel free to take a peek at the full changelog if you’re interested in the specifics. We will keep the updates coming and let everyone know once a build gets sent to Apple for review. Have a great weekend!

Coool! Great Job, Can’t Wait!
January 15th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
Any chance of the old iPhone testers being called upon to give the new release a bit of a run over before submission?
TC

@TC: Old testers should have received an email, check inbox.
January 15th, 2010 at 6:59 pm
So now, trillian for mac is next…
Please!
January 15th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
So since it’s getting close to all the iPhone stuff being sorted out, that means OSX right?
January 15th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
No concurrent MSN logins supported in this release?
That’s the one thing I’ve been waiting for. Rats! Good work on the other stuff tho…
January 15th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
And where’s the Android app? You could have developed it in the time it takes for Apple to simply approve the iPhone app. The language and SDK are unbelievably simple, and the market is very developer friendly.
I’ll continue to use Meebo on my Desktop and Droid simply because of the unification of it. Until Cerulean Studios steps it up a notch, at least.
I’ll be waiting.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:03 pm
Finally!!!
I had already given up the app, but once this comes out maybe it will be decent.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:33 pm
Landscape mode makes me happy.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:45 pm
Any chance on giving some copies to new beta testers? I would be happy to test the new builds.
January 16th, 2010 at 12:04 am
@FB, they can’t add more testers, Apple limits that… so you will just have to hope the test goes well, it gets submitted and then approved quickly.
January 16th, 2010 at 12:31 am
Staff,
How about an android app? Please?
January 16th, 2010 at 2:07 am
I can’t download the file using the link given in the email
January 16th, 2010 at 2:07 am
Still praying for an OS X version to pop up soon.
January 16th, 2010 at 2:55 am
Please make it easier to open a new conversation with a contact. As it is now it’s a struggle to use unless I’m the recipient of the first message from a contact.
January 16th, 2010 at 4:08 am
In the event that prior beta testers do not respond, is there any chance that any of those spots can be freed up for eager new testers? =D
January 16th, 2010 at 5:08 am
hey guys, what about an android-port?
January 16th, 2010 at 7:35 am
Still waiting for OS X version.
January 16th, 2010 at 10:55 am
@2BTs4Me… The iPhone builds will not support concurrent MSN logins until the plugin itself is updated, which they are working on for the 4.2 release… if they finish that and it supports it, then it would also be utilized in the next iphone/web/osx builds as the plugins are all universal because IMcore works for all platforms that Astra is on.
January 17th, 2010 at 7:52 am
Any way I can get on the beta wagon?
January 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
We want trillian for Symbian
January 17th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
Mike – I’m guessing you didn’t read the thread. *facepalm*
January 17th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
Hellyehh!
Alright, ogog, Apple ;D
January 18th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
Glad to see Facebook chat surfaced. All it needs now is Skype, and it’ll be perfect. Though SIP/Google Voice support would be great too.
January 19th, 2010 at 10:16 am
SKYPE CHAT (at least) is a must, imho. It is VERY widely used in corporate environments now.
January 19th, 2010 at 11:01 am
How do I get in on the beta? Does buying the live version get you in on beta testing, or no?
January 20th, 2010 at 10:14 am
Trillian for iPhone 1.1 Build 1….
Töltsd le a Trilliant az iPhonodra és mehet a duma…
January 22nd, 2010 at 3:53 pm
are mass Im’s or group IM’s possible yet? a must for me
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:36 pm
Now all it needs is Skype, IRC, group chats, drawing, simultaneous sign in for Live, and emoticons. Keeping simultaneous sign in for Astra exclusively for Pro seems a little silly though…
January 23rd, 2010 at 10:31 pm
Yeah, what do you think they should keep for Pro? Just the ability for it to make coffee and wipe your butt? I am sick of the “make X feature free, not Pro only” comments… grow up… they have to make a living too, there should be actual features people WANT and maybe even *need* that are left to the Pro version only, you know so people will actually BUY the program and contribute to the funds that make Cerulean Studios continue to exist for the rest of you free loaders to be able to use it and post your comments about wanting more features for free.
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:28 pm
@DiamondNRG
I understand the other Pro-features, like the advanced chat history, theming, ect; but simultaneous log-on seems like it should be one of those freebies.
Plus, Pro users have the full and final 4.1; that should scream a whole lot.
January 25th, 2010 at 1:55 am
good and soft softwear trillien i like it
January 26th, 2010 at 1:34 am
good. a new update. love to see it in landscape mode. anyhow, when will you guys add twitter integration?
January 26th, 2010 at 1:42 am
I am pissed because I paid for this back in November when it first came out but it hasn’t had any updates since. I am an avid home user and Trillian for PC is awesome. I am sorry to say that if this does not catch up with IM+ that I will be dumping the iPhone version.
January 26th, 2010 at 6:27 pm
@Thomas, you will be getting your update very soon now… just hang in there.
@Raqib … The only simultaneous log-on affected is the Astra medium, and it makes plenty sense for that to be a Pro feature… after all those signed in on more than one location are using MORE resources than others.
January 28th, 2010 at 6:20 am
For me the killer feature to add would have to be shared hitory between iPhone and PC version, can’t the history be stored online? At least short term, since I often change from iPhone to PC and visa versa part way through a conversation.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:56 pm
Ahhh finally the updates we’ve been looking for. Can’t wait until this gets sent to the App Store, though I’m not holding my breath on anything in the near future as I’m sure we all remember how long it took the initial release to actually be approved. I do look forward to switching back to Trillian once this update goes live though.
January 28th, 2010 at 8:24 pm
Damn it I want this now! How do I become a beta tester for the iPhone? :<
January 29th, 2010 at 12:31 am
Awesome news! I was going to submit a bug report that the Contacts Category does not work. But it seems it’s covered in this update. Not to mention landscape & Facebook support. WOOT!
January 30th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
i dont have an iphone but i like it
your software is very use ful for it man
thank you
February 1st, 2010 at 12:55 am
Yay for Facebook chat support finally!!! (now if only I had an iphone or itouch hehe I wish)
February 1st, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Can’t wait to grab it! Keep on the good work guys!!!
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Has this been submitted yet? I am anxious…
February 2nd, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Looking for anymore testers?
February 4th, 2010 at 10:51 am
How about the Windows Mobile Users? We want a nice touch interface client too.
February 4th, 2010 at 7:21 pm
@David… nothing until WM 7 comes out, then they are going to “look into it”. Just not worth it on WM 6.
February 4th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I know it’s not a trivial move — but have you ever considered a linux port? Regardless, wonderful work y’all!!
February 5th, 2010 at 11:38 pm
No problem with the updater, perfect!
February 9th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
If the new build does not include the ability to block chat requests from people you don’t know (like spammers) please consider including that with the iPhone version. Every time I log on there are new ones to deal with and all I can do is ‘end conversation’.
February 12th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
Any thoughts to making this for the Blackberry?
February 12th, 2010 at 3:15 pm
@Dark Serenity, they are going to consider other mobile platforms after the iPhone 1.1 and OSX releases are out.
February 13th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
i hope the qwerty support will i it and the msn add be fixed.
February 16th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
i hope so much trillian for android is coming …
February 20th, 2010 at 11:42 am
Would like help beta test Trillian on the iphone. . . . . .how can I get started?
February 20th, 2010 at 3:34 pm
Been using Trillian for years, was stoked when the iPhone app finally got approved by apple, now I can’t wait for all the new features of 1.1 (facebook chat is going to be nice)
Hope they add Twitter support along with full email support for google, yahoo, hotmail etc.
I’m with Cynthia though, I’m wondering how I can go ahead and get in the right direction of becoming a beta tester?
February 23rd, 2010 at 5:15 pm
I would like to see “history” in the new version. AOL Instant Messenger shows”History”
February 27th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
What’s the status on the update? I’m about to request a refund and go back to Beejive….
March 9th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
What are you requesting a refund for? It never claimed to have facebook or landscape… but they are getting ready to submit it again probably this week (with those things now added).
March 14th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
Just a note for those requesting it for Android, Android apps have a finite file size limit, a very small limit. It will have to be very carefully programmed and have extremely limited functionality to be available on Android. I think the size limit is something like 256Kb, although I could be wrong.
